I had the great privilege to moderate a discussion with accomplished athletes on International Women’s Day at the Rapha Clubhouse in SoHo, New York.

On our panel we had the voices and experience of a dancer, an ultramarathon, a cyclist, a runner and a Team USA triathlete.

We discussed what it was like for each women to get their start in their sport, what true inclusivity feels like, how our negative experiences have positively shaped our journey, the power and influence of community, the reality of perimenopause and women’s health issues in sport and the seeds of hope that we see growing to shape the future of women’s sports.

Thank you to my fellow athletes for sharing your journey of courage & resilience. I am confident your experience and words of wisdom will be the stepping stones for many on their journey. Thank you to all of the men and women who came out and contributed to this valuable conversation. You were an excellent audience! Thank you @rapha_newyork for hosting us and giving us the space to have opportunity to have this needed conversation.

Happy June! 🤯 In May, I decided to run as many miles as I could (safely at my current fitness). It’s been a long journey getting back into it. Thanks to coach @run_n_shoot who challenged me to finish the month with a bang - a 30 mile ultramarathon long run last Saturday! The longest I’d done since UTMB last August was only 14 miles, so I was totally unsure and pretty nervous that morning.

Thanks to @ewenku for sharing 18 of these miles by foot and the rest by bike 🙏 this day turned out to be SO MUCH FUN! And I did it! I ran 30 miles! I’m still an ultrarunner! 🥳

I kept a cozy pace, played tourist, and took fun breaks at Ikea in Red Hook 🛋️ La Colombe in NoHo ☕️ Bloomingdale’s (always grateful for their bathrooms!) and celebrated with pineapple fried rice 🍍🍚

Running with friends is more fun 💜🧡 Here’s what it sounded like running 282 ft below sea level in the Badwater Basin salt flats - crunchy! and windy. 🧂🌬️

Throughout the run, i had this irrational fear - i kept imagining that i was running on a thin crust of salt, and at any moment i could break through and fall into a deep ocean of salt water. What do you think?! 👀🌊

A couple weekends ago I backpacked the Presidential Traverse - a 20 mile point-to-point route with 9,000’ of gain along the Presidential Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. 2 days, 1 night, 7 peaks named after US Presidents, the most technical of trails as you’d expect from the east coast, and a 30 pound pack 🤩

On Thursday morning, with neither of us having plans for the upcoming long weekend, @ewenku asked chatgpt what we should do - something we could drive to, something with a lot of vert, something *advanced*. The answer - backpack the Presidential Traverse!

Less than 48 hours later, after 9 hours of memorial day weekend driving, last minute packing and a trip to @rei and we found ourselves at the trailhead. We are pros! 😆

The first day was just 6 miles but packed in a crazy 5,000’ of gain. We had to descend below treeline for our campsite and surprisingly got our own wooden platform for our tent. On memorial day weekend! 🤯😍 The next day was supposedly “easier” but was endless bouldering and treacherous rocks that make your feet cry.

I had little expectations coming on this trip, as this was the first time hiking New Hampshire and was absolutely blown away, by both the sheer difficulty of the trail and by the epic non east coast like scenery. So many times, especially on the southern side, I’d turn to ewen and exclaim “are we still on the east coast? are you sure we didn’t just fly to new zealand?!”

I haven’t done a proper backpacking trip in a few years, and it was so great to be back out there again carrying everything for survival on my back! We got incredibly lucky with the weather too - Mt Washington is known to have some of the worst weather on the *planet*!!

Here are the peaks that we climbed in order, and maybe now i’ll finally have some US president names memorized 😆

Happy Friday! Someone called us the power puff girls and i’m not mad about it 👯‍♀️ amazing summer weather earlier this week! Visited the track for the first time in weeks and did some lunges, single leg bridges, pushups, and single leg rdl knee drives 😍

and yes! i’m out of my ankle brace too now! this right ankle is freeee! 😱🥳 but still no running just yet 😭
