We had some great moments at @whokilledalexodeh’s sold out screening at @newportbeachfilmfest this past weekend. So many people in the audience were relatives or friends of Alex’s. It meant so much to us to bring the film home to them. The Q&A illuminated a community that has waited far too long for justice. I heard a few new stories about Alex from them. He left such an impression on them. I can only hope the film does the same for the larger public who meets Alex through this story. Those in SoCal who missed the screening can catch theatrical screenings at @laemmletheatres in Glendale and @thefridacinema Oct 30 and Nov 5, respectively. Purchase your tickets early!

… The Shadow Band’s eagerly anticipated second release is upon us! Ajaneb, the title of our next disc, came about as a result of some writing and rehearsal sessions where we took the best of what we learned on our improvisational forays and honed in some hooks and grooves to add some focus to our ever developing craft. We went through an intentional process of listening to each other’s current playlists to garner some inspiration and we filtered these influences through the prism of our multi-dimensional sound while still anchored on our foundational Arabic Free Groove approach. Come celebrate with us and grab a copy of Ajaneb at our release party in a couple of weeks! Opening the set is poetry with Deena (@anadeena_). Details below! The Shadow Band: @excentrik — guitar, oud, buzuk @naimashalhoub — voice, synth @christrinidadmusic — bass guitar, synth bass @reedmichaels — drum set @akierbel — percussion 🗓️ Saturday, October 24, 2026 🕰️ 7.00 pm! 📍Wyldflowr Arts, 809 37th Street at West Street, Oakland, CA 94608 🎟️ https://www.viewcy.com/event/the_shadow_band_ajan

We are so happy to announce our newest signatory from Occupied Karkin Land ('California' in the so-called 'US'), @excentrik ! In fact, Excentrik was an OG SIGNATORY of PAA's original Points of Unity back in the 2010s, which you can see by scrolling to the bottom of the Signatories page on our website! Excentrik is a Palestinian producer, multi-instrumentalist and MC best known for his oud and percussion-driven beats, political vitriol and passionate lyrics. A legend of Arab-American Hip-Hop, his diverse discography includes the revolutionary group Arab Summit (alongside Omar Offendum, Narcy and Ragtop), multiple film scores, the experimental Jazz trio The 3 Mohammads, and many more. Excentrik's latest album, Watani 77 is a 77 minute ode to 77 years of brutal colonization, occupation and Nakba in Palestine. Our network continues to grow with new members & returning veterans alike. We are so excited for what we are capable of together! All workers and artists must continue to build our power and think of ourselves not as merely passive culture-workers, but as part of a larger movement to build autonomous political spaces which can advance our struggles forward. As Excentrik says in his joining statement: "They are not invincible. And we are not weak!" FREE PALESTINE!!! Image with a faded kuffiyeh pattern in the background overlaid with text & image blocks. On top, it reads ‘Announcing!’ diagonally overlaid in white on a black strip, and below, two circular logos outlined in white on their own black strip. The one on the left shows a man sitting in a folding chair with a kufiyyeh on his head holding an oud instrument against a partially-lit green background. The one on the right is the Punks Against Apartheid logo, which shows a fist with a spikey bracelet punching through the apartheid wall & the text ‘PUNKS AGAINST APARTHEID’ around the circle’s edge.
