Thank ya, babyyyyy

A special THANK YOU to our first in-person guests, Jackie McGranahan @jackiemcgranahan & Taylor Ryan @execfemme for joining me and taking a deep dive into the business of Black motherhood. From the personal realities of mothering to the systems that shape our experiences, we explored a truth we can no longer afford to ignore:

Motherhood is an act of love, but love is not a substitute for resources.

Love doesn’t pay the rent. It doesn’t provide childcare, guarantee healthcare, create paid leave, or make an inaccessible system easier to navigate and yet, we continue to romanticize motherhood while overlooking the material conditions required to sustain it. We deserve more than conversations that celebrate mothers for how much they can endure. We need conversations that challenge why so much is required of them in the first place because if we truly value mothers, our policies, resources, communities, and systems should reflect it.

This is what RebUrth Revolution is all about: making room for the conversations that move us beyond awareness and toward change within Black Maternal Health.

EPISODE 3: The Business of Black Motherhood

What does it actually cost to mother?

For Black women, the answer is bigger than a paycheck. It’s shaped by wages, housing, childcare, healthcare, workplace policies, family leave, access to resources and the policies that determine who gets to build and sustain the life they want for their families.

In this episode, I am talking with two incredible guests whose stories help us understand the business of Black motherhood from both personal and systemic perspectives.
