This week at locally sourced Molly Kinsey presides ! wonderful Bristol comedy force of nature Louise Leigh WIPs , oli Cordova pops in, drishti , sam coleslaw , I’ll have forgotten some others ! After Tuesday there’ll be a break till Sept 15. I think we’re not far off 5 years old now ; I love that every Tuesday happens and I get to have a debate about whether the ukulele needs retiring with Emma Hughes , or watch comic and entertainer Phil Blackmore make progressively more strange ballon puppets , see brilliant established comics / performers soar, crash and burn and then find some kind of wonderful from nowhere and watch exciting new acts find their wings….all started by Charlotte Evans and I in ebdons in sidwell st , Exeter , which served locally sourced cheeses and meats , then onto the little drop of poison where Spencer jones plugged in and took everything somewhere new and brilliant , Mike Wozniak plugged us in the guardian a while back and that is for all of you heroes who’ve showed up , performed , cringed , laughed , cleared up collapsing ceilings , brought crocheted animals for the raffle , and ceramic cups of note in enticing crepe paper , and original drawings , mind bending gifts of witty wordplay, food, fivers, thats for everyone who has devised new raffle item display systems , moved with the night to other buildings for a night , moved back, supported and brought alive the festival that started from all this ….And for karen too, who was chairman of the board xxx

Love the backstage things , and the way all you need is a little room and a tiny stage to go anywhere ( as at the bill murray ), and how - while the great crazy mothership of the fringe will always be there- it’s brilliant that all these great little WIP festivals are popping up around the place (the traditional discovery of a last rogue Exeter comedy festival sign and return to its friends occurred this week ) x

This week ! ( Tuesday 7 30 drop of poison fore st ) Molly Kinsey presides majestically over loads of lovely collapsing new material, furrowed brows and laughs in all the strangest places from Sally-Anne Hayward , Ben Treloar , mark Jasper, Dan wilkin and doing a lovely little wip for us down here our own SPENCER JONES The raffle is going through one of its transitional periods and vowels always produce results , what will I bring , I for ingerland , for impenetrable raffle , for I’ve run out of new material , for inspiring intrepid inventive journeys back to locally sourced from Spence a great pal and a great performer ! ( sadly I am away and will look forward to tales of the night and contraband beans from Molly et al ) xx

June 26: this month started with me ticketing and turning over 13 shows in 3 days with Exeter comedy festival, Sophie and Ahir where so lovely amongst the many others I had the joy of meeting. Played some more Alan wake 2. saw backrooms, tadc final (against my will), masters of the universe and super girl in cinemas. Made killer macarons. Quizzed many a Thursday. went to the beach with friends to fight the heatwave. And finished it off seeing one man Poe with poppy (I didn’t take any photos lol)
