I’ve spent so much of my life feeling like if I’m not constantly moving forward, I’m falling behind. And I think that’s why I’ve always dreaded the winter months, especially December and January. Life slows down, shows become fewer, things get quiet… and honestly, that still makes me uncomfortable and stressed. I’ve become SO conditioned to the hustle. Always working, planning, chasing the next opportunity. I’ve convinced myself that if I’m not doing something productive, I’m somehow not doing enough. But lately I’ve been asking myself… what if slowing down isn’t falling behind?

What if I stopped measuring my progress by the things that haven’t happened yet and started appreciating how far I’ve already come? Maybe rest isn’t something we have to earn. Anyone else struggle with slowing down?

What if the very thing you’ve been fighting so hard to hold onto is the thing keeping you from moving forward? I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately... We spend so much of our lives chasing things, making plans, and convincing ourselves that if we just hold on a little tighter, it’ll all work out. But what if the answer isn’t to try harder? What if it’s to loosen the grip and trust that what’s meant for us won’t require us to force every step of the way?

I’m learning there’s a difference between giving up and letting go. And sometimes, letting go takes even MORE courage. THIS is the heart behind my next single, Mercy of the Wind.

October 30. Pre-save in my bio. 🖤 #lettinggo #independent #newmusic #scottstevens #mercyofthewind

🚨 IT’S OFFICIAL. MERCY OF THE WIND DROPS OCTOBER 30! My next single is officially TWO WEEKS AWAY, and pre-saves are OPEN! 🖤

My last song was about not knowing how to quit. This one is about learning when to let go. Funny how those two things can exist at the same time… I’ve been sharing lately about loosening my grip, releasing expectations, and learning that not everything in life is within our control. Well… this song is where all those feelings landed.

I got to talk a little about that during my interview with Cara D on the MyBash Morning Jam, along with my journey in music. PERU, INDIANA! I’m coming your way TOMORROW, October 17! Catch me performing an acoustic set at the Peru Circus Arena at 5:30 PM!

Nobody talks about how embarrassing it feels to outgrow something you once begged for. Especially when you’ve spent so long convincing yourself it was meant for you. The time. The energy. The sleepless nights. The endless what-ifs.

The music industry has changed so much... It’s unpredictable, constantly evolving, and sometimes feels like the harder you try to control the outcome, the further away it gets. 😅 I’ve spent 8 years believing that if I just worked harder, pushed a little more, or held on a little tighter, everything would eventually fall into place, and some things absolutely have… But maybe it’s time to loosen the grip. Not on the dream. Not on the passion. But on the idea that I can control how it all unfolds.

Sometimes we hold on because we’re afraid that letting go means all of it was for nothing. But maybe changing your mind isn’t failure. Maybe it’s growth. And maybe the hardest part isn’t letting go… it’s trusting what happens when you finally do. 🖤

I’ve spent so much of my life believing that if I just worked harder, waited longer, or held on a little tighter, things would eventually fall into place. But lately I’ve been wondering… what if some things aren’t meant to be forced? What if letting go isn’t giving up, but finally giving yourself permission to move forward? #lettinggo

I’ve spent years chasing a dream that doesn’t come with guarantees. But one thing I’ve learned? You can’t get better at something you’re too afraid to start. Happy Friday 💯🫶 #independentartists #chaseyourdreams #betonyourself #womeninmusic #jennyteator

I almost didn’t write this… Maybe because writing it meant admitting how tired I really was. 🖤
