"This is why only fools are heroes - because you never know when some lunatic will come along with a sadistic choice.” -GG

Movie prop from 'Far From Home' on display at The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Spider-Man Beyond Amazing - The Exhibition. Only 3 days left to see it in person! 💕

"Fun fact: The jester mask is the actual mask worn by Tom Holland during production. Originally Perception felt uncomfortable painting on a prop used in the film and tried to create a version of the shot that kept the mask intact. After a few tests it was clear that the best way to do it was to do it for real and after director Jon Watts gave the team at Perception his permission they did exactly that. The mask was painted frame by frame to create the growing paint effect. The transition out of the mask was created by printing a photo of the mask on large glossy photo paper and then cutting it up frame by frame." (pulled from the #experienceperception YT account, the company that painted the mask)

✨Here's a little info on the company itself that helped paint the piece Peter Parker originally wore in Far From Home.

"Perception is an Emmy nominated, cutting edge design lab pioneering the visionary process of Science Fiction Thinking to architect the future. We divide our time equally between the parallel worlds of science-fiction-working with trailblazing filmmakers, and science-fact-collaborating with the world's most innovative technology brands."

Someone on Threads posted the final scene of THOR LOVE AND THUNDER, so I posted some of the sketches for what would have been the end credits. The last shot of the movie where Thor and his daughter are leaping was supposed to cut to this first drawing where their blows are falling on the bad guys, and then the end credits were a whole series of their further adventures together.

I did a big stack of these and they had painters working to finish them in 80s van art style. It was disappointing when they went in a different direction, but a big breakthrough for me because I didn’t know if I still had it in me to do superhero stuff after so many years storyboarding commercials for frozen waffles and dish soap. It felt meaningful to put the Cintiq away and do them on paper.

My favorite is the one where he’s telling her ghost stories by the campfire at the RV park. The one of #natalieportman entering Valhalla is nice too. Shoutout to @experienceperception who are always a blast to work for.

After 25 years, I want to share some meaningful news: @experienceperception is closing its doors.

My partner (who I call brother) @jeremy_lasky and I started Perception with a simple belief—that design could live between science fiction and science fact. What followed was a nearly 25-year journey we could never have predicted.

Together with an incredible community of artists, designers, engineers, and visionary clients, we had the privilege of creating worlds, interfaces, and experiences across film/entertainment, automotive, aerospace, defense, and emerging technology. None of it would have been possible without the trust and collaboration of so many remarkable people.

Closing Perception doesn’t feel like an ending—it feels like completion. A chapter fully written the way we wanted it to be.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who was part of this journey, and proud of what Jeremy and I built together within the film and technology world that millions see and experience daily. I carry that gratitude and energy forward into what comes next.

Thank you for being part of the story and I hope to connect with you all at some point in the future.

I’m delighted to share the case study from @experienceperception for the prologue sequence to Sinners.

I was commissioned to create a series of digital illustrations with the result being this eerie, linocut-inspired vision that fuses Southern folklore, ancestral storytelling, and vampire myth into a visual language that unsettles as much as it captivates.

I was honoured to be asked to contribute to this project by Perception, and proud to contribute to the rich, unique world of Sinners.

I don’t just love movies. I love movie posters too. I’ve been itching to share my own style of making movie posters for some of my favorite films. Naturally this includes films from the Marvel CINEMATIC Universe.

Initially I was hoping to do the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and the Taika Waititi Thor films first, but I’ve had other projects to work on, including an internship, so I only have a couple to share. So, here’s a fan made poster for one of my favorite MCU films that’s not perfect, but still good, and is frustratingly underrated. My man Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love & Thunder.

My goal with the aesthetic of these posters was to take artistic inspiration from the movies, the movies’ concept art, and the Marvel comics to create something somewhat unique that speaks more to my own personal art preferences. Plus, I wanted these MCU posters to also look like comic book covers.

For this poster specifically, I had at least three main overarching goals. I wanted to include the Guardians, echoing my preference for them to have had a larger part in the film (despite their cameo appearance being fairly satisfying enough), as well as emphasize their role since this is the first solo Avenger (Thor) film with them doing a crossover. Secondly, I REALLY wanted to make this poster be as colorful, vibrant, and dynamic as possible. Like a pulp novel cover made by Frank Frazetta or something. The actual film itself, plus all the promotional material is super colorful and stylized, and I wanted to carry the essence of that. I’ve been eager to apply vibrant color palettes and high contrast lighting and shading to make everything pop and help isolate the subjects in the composition based on certain movies and shows, like the Spider-Verse films. I’d like to think that this project has brought me closer to that point. And third, I wanted to try to do both a color version and a black-and-white version based on my favorite scene in the movie, the Shadow Realm Battle.

And of course, I had to include all the love the movie gets on Rotten Tomatoes.😏
