The fashion week nobody asked for. Agrigento SS26. 🇮🇹😂

I missed New York Fashion Week because I was in Sicily hosting my @experiencesicily Stirring Sicily Culinary Tour,
spending the week with an amazing group of people who chose to come experience Sicily with me.
Which is still one of the coolest parts of what I get to do. 🙏🏻

But who the F am I kidding?
I miss Fashion Week every year.
I’m a Nonna.
Nobody invites me to shit like that. 😂

So while everyone was serving looks in New York,
I was serving looks,
pasta
and questionable commentary in 1,000 degree Sicilian heat at the valley of the temples

We all have our purpose. 🇮🇹💅🏻

This is the Sicily I want people to experience. 🇮🇹

On our Stirring Sicily Culinary Tour, the entire family at @casamirabile_relais came together to teach us how they make pasta. Nonna, the zie, the cousins… everyone had a job, everyone helped, and before long, so did we.

We rolled busiate and Sicilian maccharune by hand, made tomato sauce and fried eggplant, all with beautiful local ingredients.

But the best part wasn’t just learning the recipes. It was being welcomed into the rhythm of a Sicilian family kitchen, where recipes are passed from one pair of hands to another and cooking is never really just about the food.

There was flour everywhere, everyone was laughing, and by the end it felt much less like a cooking class and much more like being invited into someone’s home.

This is exactly what I dreamed the @experiencesicily Stirring Sicily Culinary Tour would be. You don’t just come to Sicily to see it. You get to know it through its people, its traditions and, of course, its food. ❤️🇮🇹

Stirring Sicily Prelude: Day 4 🇮🇹

Our last day of the prelude was basically a masterclass in my favorite Sicilian activities: shopping and eating. 😂

We shopped till we dropped through beautiful Noto, then made our way to Marzamemi for a long lunch by the sea. Honestly, I could have sat there all afternoon.

But we had very important research to conduct at @viola_gelateria, where we tasted our way through granita and gelato, including their award-winning Cioccolato Modicano. 😍 Because apparently a gelato tasting is educational when you’re on a culinary tour, and I will not be taking questions at this time.

Four days of eating,
exploring,
learning and laughing our way through southeastern Sicily,
and that officially wraps our prelude.

Now it’s time for the @experiencesicily Stirring Sicily Culinary Tour to really begin. 🇮🇹❤️

Today was one of those days that reminded me why I love experiencing Italy this way.

We started at the Paolo Orsi Museum before heading to the Archaeological Park of Siracusa, where our wonderful guide Rosa brought thousands of years of history to life as we explored the ancient Greek theatre.

Then, because this is a culinary tour after all, a beautiful lunch by the sea. Because in Sicily, somehow history and food are always part of the same conversation.

And naturally, we ended the day with the most important kind of therapy: @cannoloterapia. 😂

Ancient ruins, the Sicilian sea, a table full of good food and cannoli to finish it off.

I’d say Day 2 understood the assignment. 🇮🇹❤️

Night one of the prelude to my @experiencesicily Stirring Sicily Culinary Tour 🇮🇹✨

Tonight was all about meeting, mingling and easing into Sicily. Allison and I welcomed everyone with an aperitivo on the terrace of our hotel in Siracusa before sitting down to an incredible dinner made with local ingredients.

Honestly, the perfect first night. Good food, lots of chatting, and nothing too crazy because we’re all fighting a little jet lag. 😂

And can we discuss CELERY PESTO?! Something I did not know I needed in my life, but apparently I do. 😍

Now it’s time to sleep because tomorrow we’re off to explore the Siracusa archaeological park followed by a little cannoli therapy. 😉

Stay tuned… we’re just getting started. 🇮🇹

In Favara, we celebrate Saint Joseph twice a year! 💛

The first celebration takes place on March 19th, Saint Joseph’s Day and Father’s Day in Italy, while the second is held on the last Sunday of August.

Why twice? Favara has always been a town of emigrants, so the summer celebration gave those who lived far away and returned home for the holidays the opportunity to honor Saint Joseph with their families. And in Favara, we celebrate in a truly special way!

The heart of this tradition is the Saint Joseph’s Soup, made with many different vegetables, beans and various shapes of pasta.

Families who have received a blessing may make a vow to the Saint and prepare a large pot of soup to share with the community. For an entire week, you can find Saint Joseph’s Soup being prepared and served throughout Favara’s neighborhoods.

But there is one golden rule: traditionally, the ingredients should not be purchased. They are collected as donations from relatives, friends, neighbors and local families.

It is this beautiful combination of faith, generosity and community that makes the tradition so meaningful.
