Those long summer nights at Efteling have come to and end. People who visited during the summer had a choice to either watch the 'regular' version of Aquanura, or the Tiësto mix. Wasn't my first choice, but since the upgrade last year, it kinda blew me away with how good it is.
🩵
In the early days, compared to the first symphony, the Tiësto version was kinda 'meh'. But now I think, when it comes to the lights (not the music) it might be a close call which one I prefer...

Next up, we have… Jewel Changi Airport - where a full on magical experience begins for any visitor the moment you collect your bags upon arrival - preferably from Terminal 1.

Completed in 2019, the last year of normalcy before the COVID 19 pandemic struck in 2020, Jewel remains… a crown jewel in Singapore’s repertoire of attractions. It boasts the world’s tallest indoor waterfall in the form of the 40m tall Rain Vortex designed by @experiencewet (Just be sure to check the timings of the vortex before you visit so you don’t blame it for not being switched on 🫣)

Jewel itself is the brainchild of @safdiearchitects The architect of record is @rspdesigners and the project was completed by @wohhupgroup and Obayashi Singapore.

Of course, like all other mega structures, Jewel Changi Airport did not appear overnight. Indeed, it is both an architectural and engineering feat that took 5 years to complete.

The images I’m presenting here were all made on 2 visits to Jewel in 2018 on assignment for @wallpapermag which has a section named Under Construction which features significant projects from around the world in various stages of construction. I had previously photographed Gardens By The Bay for the same section in the magazine.

The last image in this carousel is an image from 2007, made when Jewel was still little more than an imagination, showing the Changi Airport Terminal 1 open air carpark that used to sit where Jewel is today.

Long exposure shot of Aquanura in the dark.
It has something magical. The tiny, misty water droplets create a special atmosphere.
💜
Far from perfect, but shot with love and effort!

CD2 is proud to be the home for world-renowned @experiencewet studios! From the fountains of @bellagio in Las Vegas to the cauldron at Winter @olympics, their team of artists, physicists and engineers creates awe-inspiring experiences. I was proud to present a City certificate honoring their service to the Sun Valley community — look forward to our future partnership in tackling local quality-of-life issues! ⛲️✨

It was very bittersweet leaving the Netherlands. Taking this trip alone was incredibly grounding—it gave me the space to slow down, recharge, reflect, and just be present with myself. It felt like the perfect pause as I step into 2026, knowing I’m ready to move full steam ahead into my new chapter at Universal Studios Hollywood. One of my highlights was visiting the Efteling, where I got to experience Aquanura Symphonica. But I wasn’t entirely on my own. I got to meet and spend time with one of the kindest friends who shares the same passion for WET as I do, Karsten @kars_job. Both the Netherlands and the Efteling were truly magical, a true realm of fantasy. A fitting way to mark my 800th post.
