With Director & Writer Justin Ducharme on Debut Feature SEVENTEEN.

In this electric yet delicate portrayal of three young, queer Indigenous sex workers living in Vancouver, writer-director Justin Ducharme looks to tell a story that transcends what they do and the world they inhabit. What brings this story to a deeper level is his unyielding insistence on capturing the intimacy of Indigenous womanhood, the intricate interior lives each character carries, and how their worldviews shape the rhythms of everyday life.

The theme of #BritishColumbia at @tiff_net this year was 🌟 dance 🌟.

For the inaugural TIFF: The Market, Creative BC and the BC Film Commission put on a special presentation at the @telefilm_canada Canada Pavilion. We were welcomed by a surprise RAGS 2 RICHMOND (@rags2richmond) performance by Jonathan Wong and his dancers.

Marnie Gee, BC Film Commissioner at Creative BC, led a discussion on #verticals and #microdramas with Monika Dalman (@monikadalmancasting), Paul Telner (@viralnation), and Justina Shih (@octagon.metatainment).

We were then joined by some of the filmmakers behind some of the B.C. films screening at TIFF including Mina Shum, Stephen Hegyes and Raymond Massey with WHATCHA WANT; Tyler Hagan with SEVENTEEN and IN ALASKA; and Marie Clements with HOW WE STAND.

Thanks for joining us. We’ll see you at the next one!
