👋 I’m Heather. The owner of Uplift Adventures. Creating an adventure-based tour company started at the young age of 12 with my first job - working on the farm I grew up on allowed me to value money and hard work. Then venturing off to the big city, I set off to study business. It’s funny how I always thought I’d own my own business. My parents were business owners and it was in my blood. But after some traumatic events, I found myself lost and unsure what to do with my life, but I set out to spend more time in the mountains. I then decided to return to school to study biological and environmental sciences. Meanwhile I worked frontline tourism jobs in places like Jasper, and tourguided for 7 years taking people to mountain resorts all over western Canada. I worked several jobs while going to school to pay for rent and feed myself, while piling on the student loans. After 6 years of post secondary, I worked in oil and gas doing reclamation and remediation, and saw a lot of country in remote areas. Places only a few people will ever see. But the mountains called and I wanted to move for lifestyle, which is when I moved to Crowsnest Pass to manage the south section of a disaster relief program after the 2013 floods along the eastern slopes that focused on rehabilitating backcountry trails in southwest Alberta. All of these experiences helped me gain skills in the outdoors and knowledge about the areas I work in. But I wanted to get people outside. Even after over a decade of working professionally outdoors, I decided to look into what it meant to be a professional guide. For the next 4 years, I took several courses with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and Interpretive Guide Association, and Wilderness First Aid. I learned so much, and then I started a business. I left my government job and started a path of purpose: helping people experience the outdoors. Since starting my business almost 9 years ago, I’ve completed a Master’s of Science studying impacts of recreation on our environment, learned how to operate a business, received several awards, and so much more. Getting paid to do this has taken over 30 years of education and experience.

LIMITED TIME OFFER. We are discounting this tour until we sell out of our supplies and then it will be discontinued.

We love our Miner’s Path Historical Tour. This tour took so much research and we really enjoyed all of the support over the years to create it. Thank you to the people who provided interviews and information from John Kinnear, Crowsnest Museum, the Petrunik family, and Bill Petrunik himself. The interview we did with Bill brings us to tears every time we rewatch it and is a highlight of this tour, but also a highlight of owning Uplift Adventures. It was a true honour to sit down with Bill and listen to his stories of working underground. We deeply feel connected to this tour, the hard work that went into creating it, the stories that were told, and the commitment to the message: To appreciate the sacrifice of the people before us for the lives we currently live. It isn’t a tour about celebrating, it is a tour that will change you.

We have a few select dates in October and will add more dates when we have availability (or until supplies last). Bookings are available online.

Larch madness is on and we know the best places. This is your life. One more amazing hike tomorrow and if you aren’t signed up, you may want to join us next year or sign up tonight. We know the good spots without the crowds.

That one summer afternoon where everything lined up perfectly. 🏔️🚣‍♂️

Few things beat hitting the water with a solid crew and watching the smoke clear just enough to catch that classic view of Crowsnest Mountain. Looking back at this @outdoorsycrew group paddle across the lake—good company, calm waters, and the best adventure pup Atlas leading the way from the bow. Southern Alberta summers really hit different. ☀️✨
