Apparently we’ve been tasting ice cream wrong this entire time? 🤔

The spoon matters. The temperature matters. The order of the flavours matters. And, according to Kayvan Mahbod of @demetres, even the LIGHTING can change how your ice cream tastes.

We go very, very deep on dessert with a man who started as a 15-year-old barista and worked his way up to President. We talk 11 kinds of caramel, triple-baked apple pie ice cream, pun-related decision making and why eating dessert is never cheating. It’s research.

Would you start another food business if you already knew exactly how hard it was? @ash.wittig did.

The founder of @honeys.icecream shares why she chose entrepreneurship for a second time, how nostalgia became her flavour playground, and why sometimes getting it right just takes doing it for the 1,000th time 🍦

What if a road trip through Italy became the blueprint for a secret restaurant in Toronto? 🚗

Years before @pastaprivato opened, @chefmichaelangeloni had an idea: travel through Italy, region by region, and let each stop inspire what he cooked next. So naturally, he grabbed a couple of friends, packed up a tiny Fiat and actually did it.

Today those ideas live inside Pasta Privato, a speakeasy-style dining experience hidden behind a red curtain. Tune in this week to hear the whole story!

Have you ever read something that made you rethink your entire career?

At 30, Allyson Bobbitt did. One story sent her straight to the library to learn everything she could about decorative cakes and, 18 months later, she took the leap.

This week on Scratch, the co-founder of @bobbetteandbelle shares how baking went from childhood comfort to a career, why finding the right business partner made 1 + 1 = 3, and what she’s learned about staying close to the craft while learning to lead.

One backyard, one steak sandwich and one random stranger who somehow found the order link. That’s when things got real for @akierenberg and @ricardo.barrientos of @bearsteaksandwiches.

In this episode, we talk about how these two Toronto guys with a love of sandwiches and no guidebook turned a pandemic passion project on Sundays to a business built around doing one thing really, really well 🐻

Season 2 is served. 🍽️✨

We’re kicking things off somewhere a little fancier, with a chef’s tasting menu, wine pairings and an experience designed to make a night out feel worth remembering.

But behind SARA are two people whose paths into hospitality started much more casually: feeding their friends.

In the first episode of the new season, Adam Minster and Chef Lia Silva share the journey behind @rasarestaurantto, @sararestaurantto and @chophop_salads, the risks that shaped them, and why even at their most refined, hospitality always comes back to taking care of people.
