the church was built in the early 1880s for a growing immigrant community. in 1908 another building was put up because the population was increasing in the area. for about 100 years, it was a busy place where people went to pray, meet, and take part in events. but over time it started to change and fewer people started to go and the area started to get worse in 2005 the church closed because there weren’t enough people attending and there was not enough priest.

in 2018, there were plans to tear it down because it had gotten unsafe. but people in the neighborhood fought to save it . they said it meant a lot to the community and wanted to keep it and it still sits abandoned to this day.

This church was built in 1921 and originally served a Christian Science congregation. It was designed in a classical architectural style by an artist that also created major public buildings in the area. this church changed hands and was eventually used by another church starting in the 1990s. this congregation was used until around 2013.

The church closed due to declining membership and the high cost of keeping up with the church. Like many historic churches it became difficult to keep up with the cost and operating it without a big active group to support it. After it closed the building sat vacant for several years and was just recently bought.
