in the 2000s, owning a bugatti veyron became one of hip-hop’s biggest status symbols due to its speed, high price, and recognizable design.

lil wayne famously claimed that he was the first african american rapper to own a veyron, while birdman frequently showed off his custom models in music videos and promoted the brand throughout the young money and cash money roster.

after jay-z, drake, t-pain, and flo rida each purchased their own, the veyron became closely associated with success and wealth in music, while its price made it unattainable to most people.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, the Bugatti Veyron was everywhere in hip-hop. It showed up in music videos, lyrics, album photos and outside the clubs, with rappers like Birdman, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z helping turn the million-dollar hypercar into a fixture of rap culture. The Veyron became part of the whole era of hip-hop where cars were as much a status symbol as watches, jewelry and designer clothes.
