It was a fun and educational evening with @pacificuoptometry and the @pacificppmg Private Practice Management Group club. We met at a local hangout, @forage.grove Food Hall and Tap Room, and my friend Andrew Fader at @eyedesignsllc gave his always popular “Build & Design Your Practice” workshop.

Students learned the basic steps for getting a practice up and running and even got to create a rough draft of a floor plan.

Shoutout to @kfranny11 and the PPMG e-board for coordinating the event and bringing nearly 50 students to the join in on all the fun!

What does it really take to build a private practice that stands out? 👀

We brought the Build & Design Workshop to the private practice club at UHCO with Andrew Fader from Eye Designs to give future ODs a look at the business side of ownership and what goes into creating a practice beyond great patient care.

Because the patient experience starts before they ever sit in the exam chair.

The space. The details. The strategy. It all matters.

Giving students a chance to explore it now can give them a real edge when it’s time to build something of their own.

It was a full and fulfilling day at @ico_optometry where I had two different events!

First up was a Lunch & Learn with over 120 students from all cohorts (1st - 4th year). While the students enjoyed #ChickFilA I talked about the many programs and resources that VSP Vision has for students and young ODs, including scholarships, Loan Repayment, @pecaamax Propel, and Future Leaders Academy.

Next up was @icoprivatepracticeclub kickoff event featuring my good friend Andrew Fader and @eyedesignsllc Andrew gave a workshop on “Building and Designing Your Practice” and talked about all the fundamentals that go into the layout and design of practices. Students received toolkits that included architect rulers, mock “blueprint” canvases to sketch out their dream practice, and design guides. SO MUCH FUN!

And we ended the evening with a fun gathering with the club’s e-board, led by future Boss-Lady, @kailaleyva_

It’s days like this that keep me going and make all the travel worth it! #OptoStudentsRock

This Monday at UABSO, I had the chance to host a Private Practice Club workshop focused on building and designing your own practice. I started out sharing how VSP supports students throughout school and into their careers, then handed it over to Andrew Fader with @eyedesignsllc led a really thoughtful and practical session on the business side of optometry.

What stood out most was how engaged the students were. They asked smart, intentional questions and leaned into the conversation around what it truly takes to own and run a practice. From operations to decision-making to long-term vision, they didn’t just listen, they really processed it.

Moments like this matter. These are the kinds of conversations that help turn ideas into plans and give students something real to carry forward as they shape their future in the profession. Shoutout to @tristambennett for bringing this to campus and creating this opportunity. 👏🏽

Sometimes Friday night shenanigans look different in #optometryschool ✏️📏✍🏼

Thank you to @pcoppc for partnering with @eyedesignsllc and VSP Vision to bring this one-of-a-kind workshop to your colleagues. Insight, creativity, and even a little stress drawing—always the perfect mix for a fun and meaningful learning moment.

I appreciate the engagement and thoughtful responses to your experience with this event. We can only grow our programs and offerings through your direct feedback and honest input.

And a sincere thank you to @theod2j, PCO PPC President and the e-board for their time and effort in organizing this event for the group. As well as another huge thanks to Andrew Fader, of @eyedesignsllc. Not only does he bring decades of experience, but his team has also created a full set of hands-on tools for students to use during the workshop and keep for when it’s time to dream up their own #privatepractice.
