Too sighted to be blind. Too blind to be sighted.
Most people think blindness means seeing nothing. But most of us who are legally blind live in the gray area in between. I can walk into a room without a cane and still need to hold my phone two inches from my face to read a menu.
That middle space is where I live every day, and it’s where most of the world forgets to design for.

Some of us give it all we can, but no one does it like @emilyrayzilient Emily gives of herself and everyone who comes into her orbit. Her coach @eyeguidevi is a close friend 😆, and is encouraged by how far Emily has come this year. Her sponsor @umalonsurfboards is stoked to be her board guru! U.S. Open adaptive surfing championships 2026!! Awesome parade of nations, competition kicks off today. I have my first seat on Saturday and finals on Sunday.

What is the most difficult part about doing what I am doing? By far the number one thing is balance and the number two thing is financial. Preparing to represent your country at the 2028. Paralympics is a lot of training, time and money.

At The Hawaiian adaptive Surfing contest in Waikiki. Had my first heat yesterday and preparing for my second semifinal heat today. So grateful for the opportunity to be here with amazing people at an amazing competition.
