POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

You know what? I don't think us women (and moms especially) give ourselves enough credit for the day to day wins.

Today I'm a badass because I dragged myself and my 4 kids to the dentist by 8am. 💪🏼

And I give myself full permission to FEEL that win. Because there was a time where taking just 2 of them to any appointment at the same time felt like a full day nervous system upset that needed a recovery plan 🫣

What are you doing today that reminds you how strong you are?

Patch day 🖤 lupus got my eye all swollen with a little cut so we’re keeping hands off. Thank God for Eyehesive — comfortable, long-lasting, even over makeup. #eyehesive #oneeye #visuallyimpaired #lupuswarrior💜 #fyp

This was just so fun. The prompt was different than anything I’d done, and once I leaned in, it was such a fun ride. Thank you for always giving me opportunities to grow @itsshelbyperry and thank you @eyehesive for trusting me with your dream.
Thank you Lauren @pixelsandpigment for the coolest captures 🌴 🐆 🌺

Your eyes literally store this nutrient on purpose. 👁️🔥

ZEAXANTHIN: 4 MG

Zeaxanthin is one of those ingredients that makes you realize just how incredible your eyes actually are.

Your body concentrates zeaxanthin in the macula, the part of your retina responsible for sharp, detailed central vision.

Think of it as part of your eyes’ built-in defense system. 🛡️

It helps support your eyes as they deal with:
📱 Screens
☀️ Bright light + glare
🌙 Changing lighting conditions
👁️ Everyday oxidative stress
⏳ The long game of maintaining healthy vision as you age

And THAT is the bigger mission behind Vision Defense.

We think about longevity for our skin.
Our muscles.
Our brain.
Our gut.
Our heart.

Why wouldn’t we think about longevity for our eyes, too?

Zeaxanthin works alongside lutein as part of the macular pigment naturally found inside your eyes, and Vision Defense gives you 4 mg every single day.

Protect your vision at all costs. 👁️

Save this one, we’re nerding out on EVERY ingredient inside Vision Defense. 🔬🔥

One year ago.

I made the incredibly difficult decision to have my eye removed after years of chronic pain, problems, and already having lost the vision in it. 👁️

I know this probably looks like it should have been one of the scariest times of my life.

But it wasn’t.

I was excited. I was relieved. I was proud of myself. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was finally getting my life back.

I thought this was my new beginning. 💫

And for about six months, it really felt like it was.

I was pain-free. I got my prosthetic. I felt beautiful again. I felt confident. I felt like I was on top of the world. 💚

Looking at this picture now hits me differently.

No eye… but so full of confidence in myself.

I look at her now and think… she had no idea what the next year would bring.

I had just a few months of feeling like myself again before a routine scan showed an “enhancement.”

At first, they thought it might just be related to my recent enucleation — scar tissue or normal postoperative changes.

I wanted so badly for that to be true.

But eventually, we learned it was something more.

And everything changed again.

I don’t feel like this version of myself right now.

But I know she’s still in there. And I will be fighting every day to get back to her. 🤍 💪 #eyeloss #oneeye #eyeremoval #monocular #strongerthanyesterday

Any other eye patch would have either dropped to my neck or be around my head somewhere.
@eyehesive eye patches stay snug… EVEN after a dunk in the pool… just another step closer to a more confident me.

Last weekend was #OneRbWorld, a three-day gathering of #retinoblastoma families, survivors, doctors, researchers, Child Life specialists and advocates from around the world.

@worldeyecancerhope is technically a client of mine. But this one has never fit neatly into a “client” box. Marissa and I met something like 16 years ago through a random Facebook message, and she’s now one of my closest friends. She is also the person who brought me into this world.

For three days, my job was basically to live inside this conference with my phone in my hand and figure out, in real time, what needed to be shared. A line from a panel. A survivor’s story. A doctor explaining something complicated in a way families could actually understand. Kids learning about medical procedures through Child Life. A sponsor doing something incredibly thoughtful. The freaking awesome board running around making 900 things happen at once. And, naturally, a bodybuilding convention taking over the hotel and somehow ending up doing stretches with the kids. 😂

Head in my phone but I still got to listen: to adult survivors talk about what childhood cancer can still look, and feel like decades later. To a young Rb survivor remind researchers that kids have perspectives you simply cannot get from a textbook. To conversations about genetics, treatment, early detection, survivorship and what Rb care looks like in different parts of the world.

And then there was Child Life, lots of hugs, dinners with people I adore, River Walk adventures, our AV guys becoming honorary members of the family (@verumavsolutions , don’t ever change)

Swipe to the end if you’ve never heard of retinoblastoma. Knowing what that white glow in a child’s pupil can mean really can matter. Very lucky that my work sometimes lets me care this much about the people on the other side of it.

Welcome party at The Alamo! Didn’t get even one photo of: The Alamo.

The WE C Hope team! Nothing but love and magic at this table

The crossover absolutely no one saw coming. A bodybuilding convention was happening in our hotel, they wandered into our orbit, donated protein shakes and joined the kids in Child Life. @rocksdiscount

We had to share this one in full. 🥹 Over all three days of #OneRbWorld 2026, our #ChildLife Program gave kids a space of their own to play, create, learn, connect and explore some of the experiences that come with #retinoblastoma.

This activity with our Bronze Sponsor @eyehesive was such a fun part of it. Kids decorated eye patches to make them completely their own, matching prosthetic eyes, choosing favorite colors and designs, and even making patches for their dolls and stuffed animals.

A friendly reminder that something connected to a medical experience can also become something creative, personal and fun!!

Thank you, @eyehesive @itsshelbyperry @rachel.mackenzlee for spending this time with our kids and for supporting One Rb World. And a huge thank you to @childlifemorgan, @childlifejocelyn, @leah_vanb and our entire Child Life volunteer team for creating three days filled with so much thought, care and FUN.

This is Child Life at One Rb World. 🌎 if your kids already want to go back, raise your hand!🙋🏻‍♀️ 🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏽
