@SceneNoise #NewNoise: Sudanese singer-songwriter Hiba Elgizouli has long occupied a distinct space in the regional independent music scene, crafting music that balances honest self-expression with rich musical texture. Her latest AFAC-supported EP, 'Moya W Nar', feels like the most complete expression of this balance yet: six tracks that are structurally ambitious, emotionally direct, and deeply rooted in Sudanese musical traditions.

The EP opens with ‘Hungry’, which establishes this aesthetic through dusty, textured percussion and orchestral strings. It is an elaborate setup, yet the groove remains slow and low-key, allowing Elgizouli’s pure vocals and simple melodies to take center stage before peaking with an expressive synth solo.

The title track, 'Moya W Nar’, serves as the emotional and structural centerpiece. It begins on a contemplative note with a quiet piano line and relaxed ride cymbals, hosting her most powerful vocal performance on the record. The arrangement, simple at first, grows complex through the playful, dynamic relationship between the keys and the drums, eventually shifting into a ritualistic, chant-like second half augmented by soaring synthesizer notes.

The final stretch moves with a different kind of energy. 'We Want Love’ kicks up the tempo with a fast drum groove and a capella vocals, propelled forward by a percussive organ and open guitar chords, leading into the closer, 'A Song’, which dials back the theatricality in favor of a laid-back, infectious groove. The track acts as the project’s most introspective moment, exploring themes of burnout and identity crisis through catchy, soulful vocal lines.

'Moya W Nar' highlights an artist threading deeply personal themes of struggle, hope, and resilience through an intricate and highly elaborate musical framework. By grounding her ambitious arrangements in honest songwriting and traditional grooves, Hiba Elgizouli has delivers a refreshing, deeply considered EP that reveals an impressive craftsmanship.

“النقش في الحجر” كتاب انولد على يد ستديو عين من خلال من مختبر الحرف العربي كتجربة تحوّل النقوش الصخرية لحروف رقمية، مع عنوان محفور بالكبس قريب من أثر الحفر، وداخل الصفحات خرائط، إحداثيات، ورسومات تشرح بناء الحرف مع صور توثيقية 🌟

“Set In Stone” is a book developed by Eyen Studio through a collaboration with the Arabic Calligraphy Lab, as an experiment that transforms rock inscriptions into digital letters.

It features a stamped title carved in relief, close to the effect of actual chisel marks. Inside the pages, there are maps, coordinates, and sketches explaining the construction of the letterforms, along with documentary images🌟

عيني عينك في عين عيونك. اهلاااا وسهلاا في جلسة دودلة جديدة وهاي المرة في عين ، بدنا نفتح عيون عقولنا للخيالات اللي متخبية هون وهناك وندودلهم ونرسمهم ونحكيلهم اطلعوا عادي ليه خايفين. متحمس ٦ مليون ندودل وننبسط ونتذكر قديش في اشياء حلوة وجمال في ارواحنا.

و الـى اللي ما بعرف شو هي جلسة الدودلة، جلسة الدودلة هي جلسة منستكشف فيها عقولنا وقلوبنا عن طريق الرسم والدودلة. بسسس شو يعني دودلة ؟ دودلة صرف لكلمة doodle وهي انك ترسم بشكل عشوائي ولااااا مباااااااااالي .

هدف هاي الجلسة هو انه نتسلى ونضحك ونتشارك رسماتنا وقصص بضحك زي لما مرة كنت قاعد في مكان وواحد فسى وفكر فش حدا بالغرفة وانا كنت واقف ورا وبس لاحظ تخبى مني يمااا شو متت ضحك
