I'm curious: when you build a kit, do you build as you go, or do you snip all the pieces off first and then assemble in one go? This is what the typical kit building process looks like for me. Nothing fancy or aesthetically pleasing, just a mess of parts and tools on my dining room table, most of the time with questionable lighting, and some cutting mats that need a good clean. It's always worth keeping in mind that whilst you see these perfectly curated shots on socials, the reality is normally quite different 😊 Anywho, this is how are I'm along with the GQuuuuuux build - all parts are snipped off the runners and organised by section. I'm not working my way through each part, cleaning them up before I start the assembly. I have to say I'm really impressed with this kit so far. All the parts seem slightly unique compared to anything else I've built before, and the colours are gorgeous! Can't wait to put this together! Here is my very first attempt at applying a custom colour scheme to a kit! What do you think of my Power Arm Custom Calibarn? I'm guilty of just snap building and then moving onto a new kit, so I thought it's about time I pushed myself to create something unique! I'd never gone through the process of masking and painting before so it was for sure a learning curve for me and I now have greater appreciation for those that change up the colour schemes on kits - it's not a quick or simple process! I don't have an airbrush setup, so for this, I picked up some Tamiya TS synthetic lacquer spray cans, some Dspiae soft tipped acrylic markers and got cracking. I've already used the Dspiae markers before, but this was my first time using the Tamiya TS cans, and honestly, I'm a convert. They're soo easy to use, have fantastic coverage, and there is such a wide range of colours - I'll definitely be using them again for future builds now I've dipped my toes into customising kits! The countdown to GQuuuuuux hitting Amazon Prime has begun! Are you going to be watching it? The 12 episode series will be available on 8th April and will be releasing an episode each week. I'm more of a binge watcher, so I'd normally wait until it's all out before watching a show, but I honestly can't wait, so I'll be watching each episode as it comes out. Strutting into a 3-day weekend 😎 What's everyone's weekend plans? Are there any games on you're planning on tucking into or kits you're looking to make some progress on? I'm hoping to pick Cyberpunk 2077 up after a very long hiatus - I've put in a good 25 hours and have done very little of the main story 🙈 Give me an open world and I'm off exploring and doing side missions. My GBWC entry: Autumnal Respite Everyone needs a break from time to time, even Gundam pilots. This diorama encapsulates what I adore the most about the UK - it's gorgeous countrysides. Nothing quite beats escaping the chaos of everyday life and driving down winding country roads, surrounded by rolling fields and lush forests. When Autumn rolls around and the trees start turning that lovely shade of red, you really can't beat it. This is my first ever attempt at making a diorama and my first time entering GBWC, so I wanted to really push myself to create something I'll be really proud of. So much of this includes building techniques and materials I've never used before, so to say I did a lot of research and took some risks is an understatement. I'm super proud of what I've been able to produce. I wanted to create something different from the themes you typically see in this competition and space, I wanted to create something calming, relaxing, an escape to somewhere peaceful. MCM Comic Con has descended upon London once again and you know what that means - GUNDAMS!! @bandai_uk_collect and @bandai_hobby_uk have an absolutely epic setup showing off some stunning exclusive kits, as well as hosting a building workshop! I took part in a workshop today and managed to get stuck into an EG RX-93ff which is an absolutely gorgeous Gundam. Was definitely eyeing up the RG version of this in their displays 👀 If you're going to MCM tomorrow then definitely swing by! Take a closer look at the displays and you can spy the GBWC trophy which is up for grabs (remember November 17th is your last chance to enter!) What's been your favourite build of the year so far? I'm one of those people who can't bring himself to throw the box away, so I flatten them down and store them away for some unknown future purpose. When you can't do faces, make it a Ditto 😅 Here's my recreation of the epic RX-78-2 Pikachu art print from the super talented @heyimhelly Since picking up this art print from her at MCM earlier this year, I've had the idea of finding a Pikachu figure to recreate it, but I couldn't find one that would work. So the only thing left to do was make a Pikachu myself! Or, in my case, a Dittochu 😅 All it took was a super cheap £3 block of Fimo clay in sunflower yellow and some markers - it was much more simple that I was expecting using the clay. Didn't expect to have to oven my Pikachu for half hour though which felt weird, haha. I'm no pro modeller, but I'm happy with how it came out. What do you think? If you've got an RX-78-2 sitting on a shelf, I challenge you to make a Pikachu companion for it!
