Kind of chic to have fun with fitness

One of San Diego’s most popular fitness studios has abruptly shut down, but its owners didn’t go quietly. In an unusually long and revealing email sent to members, the owners of F45 Training Pacific Beach laid out years of alleged behind-the-scenes financial turmoil they say ultimately made the otherwise successful gym impossible to sell, including unauthorized debt, a blanket lien against the company’s assets and its entanglement in a former owner’s bankruptcy. Then came one final bizarre twist: ownership says nearly all of the studio’s workout equipment disappeared over the weekend in an apparent break-in. Now employees are suddenly out of work and members who prepaid are demanding answers, including one who asked, “What happens to all of us who were encouraged to pay a year up front?”

Have no fear, @theergdoc is here! 🧰🩺

⚠️ Two major health points on the #skierg - specifically when it comes to handle cord tangling. 🤓 Let’s nerd out shall we…

👉🏻 1. Shock Cords! Old and tired shock cords struggle to properly wrap the handle cords on the way back up to the catch. If you race back up to the catch or take super quick partial strokes on a machine with worn out shock cords, the chances of the handle cord jumping the drive spool and getting tangles increases significantly. The last thing you ever want to do is allow the handles to free snap back to the top.

👉🏻 2. Drive spool health. Although not as common, the clutch bearings in the drive spools need attention with regard to lubrication. The bearings are designed to grab onto the flywheel axle shaft on the drive phase, sending the energy of your ski stroke into the flywheel. The bearings then free spin when you’re on the recovery phase as the shock cords do their work to re-wrap the handle cords. I’ve seen dried out, unserviced spools stick to the axle and grab on the recovery, wreaking havoc and creating a one way ticket to tangle-town.

If it’s been a few years since you’ve had your ski’s assessed, make no delay and reach via DM or shoot me an email “info@ergdoc.com” today! 📥
