PROOF IT WORKS
Last year, in Western Australia alone:
298 menders. 15 councils. 360 textiles repaired. 416 items saved from landfill. 2.5 tonnes of CO2e avoided, in a single day.
This year, The Great Global Mend goes national, and you are helping write the next set of numbers.
Come be part of the proof that a needle or a FabPatch and a couple of hours can genuinely move the dial. Saturday 7 November 2026, at 11 am AWST-2 pm AEDT

GROWING MOVEMENT
The Great Global Mend is growing.
What started as a Western Australian pilot last year is going national in 2026.
Same mission, same simultaneous moment, more menders than ever before, all across the country on Saturday 7 November.
Be part of the crew making it happen locally.

Meet the team behind The Great Global Mend.
Two founders. Two states. One slightly audacious idea.
In 2025, Stephanie Pontet @care_to_rewear in Perth and Sophie Dyring @fabpatch.au in Victoria looked at Perth ,the city most people write off as too isolated to lead anything and decided that was exactly where a national repair movement should start.
So, they built The Great Global Mend, proudly part of the Circular Fashion Festival’s programming, directed by @curatedwardrobe.au
The first attempt, in 2025, wasn’t small:
→ 15 WA councils
→ 298 menders who showed up with a torn hem, a missing button, a jacket they weren’t ready to let go of
→ 416 items saved
→ 360kg of textiles kept out of landfill
→ 2.5 tonnes of CO₂e avoided
One Saturday. That’s what it did.
Now they’re going bigger.
On Saturday 7 November 2026, 20+ councils and organisations across Australia , Perth’s Yagan Square to sites in Victoria, NSW and the ACT will open their doors at the same time, for the same reason: to mend, together, and see how far this can go. Counted at 11am AWST / 2pm AEST.
No sewing skills required. Just something worth keeping.
What started hundreds of kilometres apart is becoming proof that repair isn’t a niche hobby ,it’s a movement, and it’s growing.
