We’re sewing the basics and it feels so goood 🌟 I’m quite picky when it comes to pants - I like them high waisted with a structured waist, relaxed fit with a wide hem and pleats, definitely pleats. Type of fabric and colour matter as well. With all these in mind, retail is either very expensive or not quite what I want - most of my favourite pants are actually vintage and thrifted! There is something about a well fitting pair of pants, it makes me feel like my life is put together and I am in control of my destiny lol (dramatic) but maybe it’s the crisp fabric and the clean front pleats that make me look taller (yup, this is the reason) but either way, it’s such a great addition and an anchor piece to my wardrobe! It is truly a gateway to styling timeless outfits. This is the first of the seriesss, let’s make many more! 🪡 #sewists #memade #sustainablefashion #slowfashion #imadethis

I’m behind on posting some of my September makes part 2. Here’s the @julesmsmit Snow Top. Loved it so much I made it twice! The first is in a brown plaid cotton from @blackbirdfabrics. The second is in a rose-colored linen from @fabricsstorecom. I’m not entirely sold on the color since I’m more of a black/neutral-toned gal, but maybe I’ll give it another try and wear it next spring/summer. As I mentioned in the first post I’m a sucker for a wrap top and this pattern can be sleeveless or made into a dress, so I’m excited to make it in other ways and probably in black 😂. #sewing #handmade #snowtoppattern

Pattern Emporium On Repeat woven top. The fabric was re-claimed… both from a dress that didn’t work out and from under the cat’s bum! It is a medium weight linen that I thought might be too heavy for this pattern but it turned out pretty great. i had this bathrobe rattling around my brain space for over a year & finally made it ❤️‍🔥 this blockprint cotton kind of dropped into the garment world last summer (or at least i started seeing it pop up in small shops a bunch) so i bought a few meters on etsy last year & made a lightweight robe ❣️ i wanted a simple robe & came across the @fabricsstorecom relaxed linen bathrobe (a FREE pattern 🥳) the pattern is listed as one size & this worried me a bit for the fit i was going for.. so i ended up changing the SA from 3/8” to 5/8” to do a lazy size down (everywhere except the shoulder seam) i also added hem facings to maintain body length & found the collar + belt to be a bit short so i lengthened them as well + added belt loops 🤗 i love how it came out & am a little bummed i finally made it just as it starts to cool down so i will be wearing it every morning until temps drop below 50F then switch over to my thicker robe 😅 #memade #sewistofinstagram [Image ID in alt text] Leila, a small framed multiracial woman with dark hair, stands indoors. My beautiful handspun yarn!! It is 8oz of Corriedale wool from Friends in Fiber on etsy. I spun 2 plies as a 1:3 fractal on my ashford espinner and it measures 209 grams, 448 yards, and approx 11-12 WPI. Super happy with how it came out and I’m knitting a jaunty by @dreareneeknits with it! Also wearing my most recent sewing project which is a #honeygirltee (crew neck cardigan version) from @paradisepatterns, using cotton rib from @surgefabricshop. And my pants are the amazing #arthurpants from @sewliberated using linen from @fabricsstorecom !! #handspun

Better make some notes before I forget: @fabricsstorecom signature weight linen in Dusty Lotus and Bleached White. I think it was 4 yards of the white and 8 yards of the dusty lotus. The backing took two 3 yard pieces. There looks to be enough left over from that for the binding. For the 9 patches, I cut 2.5 inch strips and did batch sewing. I used the finished 9 block to determine the size of the white blocks. I am doing a wool batting as I heard it was better for temperature regulation. We'll see. Hand quilting with perle cotton thread size 8. I've forgotten what needle...but it's a big one.

After making several pairs of @hisydgraham ‘s Avenue Shorts, I decided it was time to sew a pair of Avenue Pants! I used this green linen from The Fabrics Store (that’s the actual name) and it’s really nice, flowy, and breathable. I’ve never sewn (let alone wore) a-line pants like this before, so I wasn’t sure what I would think but I really like them! I also already had a perfectly matching shade of thread in my stash which was a really magical moment I wish you were there. #sewing #fabric #linenpants #avenueshorts
