In a family, the hardest thing to do sometimes is to talk! Grief affects every family differently, we explore how a wife/mother is dealing with the death of her husband and the son dealing with his father’s death. A lot of the work I look back on, I only notice things I wish I’d done differently or I cringe slightly because I see stuff I’ve learnt from since, and of course that self criticism I think all creative people feel, if the finished article wasn’t EXACTLY as you imagine. This job I directed for @matildaacole a few years back was exactly as I imagined. I’m not saying it’s perfect or that I’m not proud of my work since, just that it still makes me really happy to look at this one. I was experiencing a lot mentally, spiritually & emotionally. During this time I was trying to figure out what would be the best song for me to introduce myself to the world. I heard this instrumental on @voisey & I instantly felt the melodies come to mind. So I did a little freestyle with my dry vocals (at the time) recorded it & spent the evening writing the rest of it. This song is a self expression of speaking my truth, owning who I truly am, standing in my Light & believing in my own abilities. Still from new #DMU commercial shot last year. This vignette was all about overcoming a fear of presenting. When I was in school talking in front of the class or large groups made me sick with anxiety, to the point I would completely fall apart when doing it and try at any cost to get out of the situation. This is something I’ve had to learn to overcome through my job. Following one of my v dodgy pitch presents, my old boss @garyszabo taught me to convince myself of my ability to do it and channel an inner confidence. I now actually love presenting and the feeling of accomplishment knowing how I used to deal with it, so this characters story is something that really resonated with me ☺️🎆 . . .
