I can’t get over how much @nsbkim slam dunked this shoot! She had me feeling all the ways, especially about how much I enjoy playing with my presentation. Feeling blessed to have brought to life the talent show from my debut YA novel, “Between Classes,” that was held at imagined high school, Central Vaughan Collegiate in the book. It was incredible to see Toronto’s homegrown talent take the stage and share their gifts with us. Smiles on book lovers’ faces filled the space, as they watched these stellar performers. It truly warmed my heart.

The connections made yesterday with the community could not have been possible without @Tdotjerk @jessicaalexmarketing and @indigoyorkdalemall

When @nsbkim and I came together to attend the Range Rover FIFA Closing Party with @tfagencyinc, @landrovermetrowest, and @feccmag | @feccouncil, we knew we wanted to bring the beautiful game to life through fashion. Together, we created a moment where style, culture, and football collided.

A last-minute rose from @cafe.rosarium tied both of our looks together perfectly, even though we hadn't even planned it. 🌹 The combination gave our entire vibe a more relaxed, edgy, yet completely fashion-forward tone for the night.

A special thank you to @meesh.to for customizing pieces from her recent FIFA-inspired collection with our social media handles, it was such a unique, thoughtful touch that I completely wasn’t expecting!

I started chasing my dream at 57 years old.
Not 17.
Not 27.

When I was 14, I dreamed of being a model… maybe an actor… maybe even a singer. But like so many dreams, life happened and fear kept me from trying.

As we enter October I want to encourage you to embrace World Mental Health Day on October 10th. The official theme for 2024 is ‘It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace” And I couldn’t agree more!

Mental health is an essential part of your overall well-being, and embracing vulnerability not only supports your own healing but encourages others to reflect on their own mental health journeys. This openness creates space for empathy, understanding, and collective healing, which is more important than ever in today’s world.

THE VAULT is a poignant photo series featuring prominent Torontonian figures who candidly discuss their mental health journeys, telling us what keeps them grounded as artists/creatives. The aim of this project that was released @fashionarttoronto last spring was to shine a light on mental health issues and destigmatize these conversations.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“I had lost my light. My work used to get me up in the morning, which motivated my day. I was named one of the TOP 25 talents in Canada to look out for by the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards. Top 25 in Canada, but I was empty inside. I felt like I was wearing a mask on my face when I was out at events or even on set, instead of dealing with my loss. I had had a miscarriage. I was a woman at the top of my game who was told to be silent because it could ruin my career. I couldn’t say a word. Most of my surroundings were not supportive. My voice was not vocal. My art was NOT MOVING!!! I was going through life, performing to the outside world, trying to fill everyone else’s cup but my own.”

Today I couldn’t be more focused and happy for my journey. #stongerthanever #artistlife
