Today I passed my Barbering State Board exam! Your boy is now fully licensed!

Humbled as I reflect on the last 2 and a bit years. What a journey it has been. And it’s only just getting started. Grateful to God for the doors He has opened for me and the people I have met along the way. For the lessons he has taught me as I’ve persevered through discouragement, jacked up haircuts, adapting to a new culture, going to class when I don’t feel like it, self doubt, lost friendships, debt, crappy warehouse jobs, miscarriages, stressing if I’ma make the rent, having to ride the bus/metro to school in South Central LA and so much more. The strength to do so I owe to the grace of God at work in my life.

Shout out to my wife, @tiinnaawalker . We’ve fought for each other and fought with each other and learned to trust Christ more deeply in all of it. Thank you for believing in me, being patient, holding down the family while I was gone a lot, not complaining when we were broke, trusting the process and for being my best friend and biggest source of encouragement. This is our win.

Shout out to @goseelos for taking a chance on me. Shout out to @mr_the_barber @wattshisname_ @superdavecuts134pl @adrianthebarberr @dannyxfadez for making me a better barber.

Shout out to Steve & Scean Ellis at @untouchableaa , Jackie Glover, Margaux Gonzales, and all my classmates.

Also shout out to @brownbaglady_ , @hungry.to.help , and @barber_gurus for giving me opportunities to get reps in.

Shout out to my church, @bbcbellflower, especially the guys who let me practice cutting them, and for being an amazing community of people helping me stay rooted in Christ.

And shout out to all the barbers that have inspired me along the way.
