POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Well… hi. 🤍

It’s been almost five years since I really showed up here, and how exactly do you summarize five years of a life?

The two tiny humans who once occupied so much of this page aren’t tiny anymore. They’re growing into their own people, and I’ve become more intentional about allowing their lives and images to belong to them. Motherhood is still one of the biggest parts of who I am, but their stories are theirs.

I’m still a wife. Still a mama. Still a yogi. But I’ve also discovered new pieces of myself.

One of the biggest has been dance. 💃🏻

I fell unexpectedly in love with Argentine tango, and eventually ballroom entered the picture and apparently decided to take over a significant portion of my life. 😂 Dance has challenged me, brought me ridiculous amounts of joy, and sparked a fascination with the relationship between our minds and bodies.

And then, because apparently I wasn’t busy enough, I went back to graduate school.

I returned to GWU for my master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling. What began as a career change has started to feel like different pieces of my life finding their way toward one another: counseling, mental health, relationships, yoga, movement, and dance.

And then this year, life changed in a way I never would have chosen.

I lost my mom.

I’m still learning what it means to write that sentence, let alone live it. I don’t have a profound takeaway or beautiful lesson to attach to losing her. I miss her. I love her. And I’m learning that grief can exist right alongside joy, parenting, dancing, laughing, working, loving, and continuing to live.

For a minute, I wondered if coming back here meant I needed to start over.

But Buddha Belly Mama was always about the person I was becoming. And she’s still here.

Just five years older, raising bigger kids, still married to the same wonderful human, dancing considerably more, becoming a counselor, grieving her mom, still practicing yoga, and increasingly fascinated by where mental health and movement meet.

So I’m not starting over.

I’m just picking up the story from here. 🤍
