CommUNITY by TPOS (Slide ➡️) | On Feb 22nd 2020 we took the next step towards our goal to be not only an ambassador platform for Sacramento, but continue our mission to bring a space that can be used as a resource for our community for generations to come. PLEASE SHARE & TAG A LOCAL BUSINESS/RESTAURANT BELOW.

Our flagship location @communitybytpos was influenced by our holiday pop-up. In just the few weeks of our holiday pop-up we collected nearly 2,000 toys for kids, over 30,000 socks for the homeless, hundreds of art supplies for kids to create, hundreds of shoes for those in need of them, and took a 100 families on a holiday shopping spree. This concept was born off the inspiration to do more and be more for the city. And little did we know so quickly after our grand opening would this space be needed so desperately.

Every person is defined by the communities they belongs to. As the world is shaken due to the #coronavirus, let’s continue to be evidence of a City that holds each other together above everything. So we are opening our space to our community. We will be partnering with our local partners to have gift-cards to local businesses ready for any family or community member that may fall on hard times during this pandemic. Please DM us! We urge & encourage our City to put an extra focus on shopping and eating local through the next 30 days.

We also encourage anyone with extra food, water, necessity supplies such as toilet paper, flashlights, blankets etc to feel free to drop them off at @CommUnitybytpos. We will work with local organizations to get these items to those who may need them during this time. As things unfold @thepeopleofsacramento will continue to be a resource and platform as as support system for everything Sacramento. Please stay tuned as we put together a plan of action to help those families in need.

• 𝐏𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐭. The body can make vitamin D when skin is exposed to sunlight, but production often drops in winter. To compensate, get plenty of the vitamin from foods. You can also try our D-UP health shot, conveniently loaded with vitamin D 😉☀️

• 𝐕𝐞𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐲. Shop for colorful, healthful, in-season fruits and vegetables. Clementines are packed with vitamin C. Bananas are loaded with potassium. And sweet potatoes and winter squash are rich in vitamin A.

• 𝐁𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧. Cold air and low humidity can lead to dry, itchy skin. To protect your skin, limit showers or baths to no more than 10 minutes and use warm (not hot) water. Afterward, blot dry gently and slather on a natural moisturizing cream on to replenish your skin.

Recently I’ve gotten the same compliment from a few people I deeply respect; that I do a good job showing my true self on social media. For a long time I struggled with the fact that I don’t have a perfectly curated feed. I felt less than. I felt like I wasn’t a real blogger. I wish I could be that perfect feed girl but I can’t. I’m too disorganized and ill prepared, quite frankly. I don’t have the necessary brain power to hire a photographer for all the photos I need to create. I don’t have the forethought to bring 18 outfits if I go to a pretty location. I can barely remember to pack my necessities. I don’t know what’s trendy or cute. I think we put immense pressure on ourselves to look a certain way and to create content like others because we think that’s the way we need to be seen. I’ve come to realize that I can never be someone that exudes perfection because I’m basically a pile of imperfections held together with some love. So that’s what you’ll get here. Sometimes I can pull myself together for incredible photos like this one. Sometimes a deadline with sneak up on me and I’ll have to bribe my children with a book and pizza to take my photos. That’s my life and I can only be who I am. I’m so thankful for those who’ve seen the realness and the imperfection as the best of who I am instead of the worst. It’s helped me to decide to see it as a strength too. This is your weekly reminder that you can handle anything this week throws at you, in a way that only you can. And that’s not just ok, it’s magical.
