A few years ago, my husband surprised me with a visit to a book signing for photographer Faith and her Saltwater Collection.

I had followed her work for years. Her film photography feels like a dream—soft, ethereal, and deeply familiar. Every image reminds me of childhood summers spent exploring the Outer Banks, collecting shells, chasing waves, and staying outside until the sun disappeared beneath the horizon.

When I finally met Faith, we immediately connected over our shared love of the sea, coastal living, and, of course, chocolate Labradors.

Today, Saltwater Collection lives on our console table. One of my favorite things is that neither my husband nor I ever know who flipped the page. Throughout the week, we’ll walk by and notice a new photograph waiting for us—a quiet reminder of the places and moments that continue to shape us or we still need to explore.

Beautiful art has a way of becoming part of a home. This book has certainly become part of ours.

It’s wild to think that a simple idea to photograph the entire coast of North Carolina with my film camera would grow into a community of people who love coastal NC as much as I do.

Cocktail hour time! I am smitten with the bar details, fun design, colorful flowers, and memorable moments interwoven into cocktail hour. These details were simultaneously elegant and timeless yet incredibly fun, fresh, and chic – perfect for our color-loving, fashion-and-design-forward bride who loves the little details & gorgeous stationery!

We turned up the color with vibrant hot pink, orange, chartreuse, and olive paired with tortoiseshell & dark rattan accents. I really wanted to make both the cocktail hour & reception design feel like “home” with gorgeous vignettes, welcoming seating arrangements, & details that really shone.

The Ocean Room featured a double wooden bar that highlighted the custom Gracie wallpaper and the statement woven chandeliers, and we placed two colorful floral urns at each end of the bar. The outdoor terrace featured a bar in the perfect shade of olive green with gold shelves as the bar back, which were outfitted with glassware, colorful florals, greenery, and tortoiseshell candles.

All of the bars featured gorgeous chartreuse and olive green bar menus in tortoiseshell frames, signature cocktail menus in pink and orange, and then bespoke, colorful cocktail napkins, matchboxes, drink stirrers, & koozies that we lovingly designed with Surcie, all in rattan, tortoiseshell, and gold bowls, cups, or trays. We designed all of these details with intention & cohesion — & I love the touch of that statement marbling woven throughout the day.

We had Hathaway Florals design colorful florals in large white clam shells to carry the oceanfront setting through, along with vignettes highlighting coral and other subtle nods to the ocean. Servers carried trays of signature cocktails, adorned with matching floral linen napkins. These little details really make a difference!

It’s a bit surreal, but I’m SO excited to share that @saltwatercollection is featured in the Summer issue of @wilmingtonmagazine!! 🌊

In addition to the COVER photo (!!) there’s an amazing four page article about my journey of starting Saltwater Collection - from finding inspiration through my Grandma Betty and our mutual love for the Carolina coast, to my daily battle of fighting chronic illness. I’m humbled and honored to have been interviewed by the lovely @madison.tb. Thank you for sharing my story with such warmth and care! 🤍
