Philadelphia Ballroom 🏳️‍🌈❤️💙

This performance is so special to me, not just because of the stage, but because of the people. ❤️

One of the best parts of this experience was making new friends and creating memories with such an amazing group. Our chemistry was incredible, and every rehearsal and performance was so much fun. It reminded me that just because we’re from different houses doesn’t mean we can’t support each other, be friends, and express ourselves freely with no shame.

A huge thank you to @ryleeprodigy (aka Mother 🫶) for choosing me to be part of this piece. I love you so, so, so much and I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity.

And thank you to all of my friends and family who came out, supported me, and cheered me on. Your love means more than you know. ❤️

Living in Color Season 3
Yellow- Marjaé Imani @fakebitchesfave

Marjaé (26) is a Black Trans Woman who is widely known as the Philadelphia Mother of the House of Juicy Couture. When she was asked to reflect on the definition of Renaissance and how Philly might be experiencing a renaissance period of its own, she stated that Philly is moving towards a more inclusive ballroom community. The ballroom scene is becoming more mainstream by having more events in major settings. Rather than being forced underground, the ballroom culture can freely experience the spotlight. Marjaé believes that this shift in the scene provides a space of belonging for her. She affirms that her identity helps her grow immensely within her industry. For her, knowing what one wants for themselves can help them achieve anything they set their minds and hearts to.

What attracted Marjaé to this project was how Living in Color was able to capture artists’ muse. The project’s ability to aid in all of the artists’ creative inspiration made this experience more than a simple photoshoot. It became a way to tell our stories beyond the concept of words. This variety in storytelling is how Philly’s queer community thrives. She wishes more people knew that Philly’s queer community has a wide variety of queer culture. She wishes more people knew the range within Philly’s Rainbow umbrella. Marjaé was also asked to reflect on  being a part of this project and how embodying the color yellow has helped rebirth part of her life. She says, “The color yellow symbolizes joy for me. It reminds me to take back every aspect of my joy. It also reminds me to never let mishaps define my outcome in life. Always remember to be present in the moment and be grateful for the blessings in front of you!”

Redbull Regionals in my own city 🤭💙❤️

Always bringing authentic Voguing and Ballroom Culture to this platform. I’m seeing more and more Voguers asked to be a part of this battle platform and that was my intention and goal in even doing it in the first place myself, people will see the community whether like it or fucking not ‼️
