Nike Portland XC has come to an end, and we couldn’t be more proud of these boys. A great race day built for PRs and season bests. As we make the long trek home, we now look to team goals going into the latter half of the season and big goals to make it to state as a team. Our team quote was selected by our senior Thad Downs (who also placed 7th) fits where we need to be mentally in the weeks to come;
“To give anything less than your best, is to sacrifice the gift.” -Steve Prefontaine

The Hilander Cross Country team would like to humbly thank @endless_mileage for the overwhelming donation of clothes, spikes, bags, running shoes and lots of gear. Your donation will not only impact Burns Cross Country, but Burns Track and Field and the Hines Middle School programs. Small eastern Oregon schools don’t always have the largest running budget and your donation will make such a difference in the lives of so many children! Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

“The only limit to your potential is the one you set for yourself.” - Bill Bowerman

I had another great week at Bowerman Track Camp. As a third year camper I keep thinking I’ve already learned everything I could from this camp but it keeps surprising me time after time. I am very grateful for all the people I have met these past years and lessons I’ve learned. This week challenged me in many ways and I have become a better person because of it. I pushed myself and came out on the other side a winner not just in the race but in life as well.

1 more year to go.

Hey everyone! Some of the boys on the cross country team are headed to Steens‘s camp!! 🏔️
This camp is highly sought after where runners from around the country fly in to attend and the camp is typically is booked out within a week of registration opening. Luckily, a few of our XC boys were able to get in! They are still working towards their fundraising goal and are currently about $2800 short. They plan to do a few more fundraisers before they head out on July 11 but for those of you that don’t live locally to Harney County if you would like to contribute, your donation would greatly be appreciated! for those that live locally, if you would prefer to give your donation in person, please let us know and we will arrange for one of the boys to meet you and thank you in person.

This group of boys has high goals for their coming fall season-and as most athletes know, success is built before the season even starts. 💪🏼 🏃‍♂️

Thank you so much for the support! Stay tuned for future updates about upcoming fundraisers as well.
