Part 2 and 3 of Yaji were much more hands on and interactive. We had the food station with Period accurate (as far as we possibly can) snacks and drinks from 800 yrs ago's Song dynasty China, recreated through recipes and some modern adaptations by @herheartefact. And it was a crowd favourite as everyone gathered to ask about the consumption habits, raw ingredients and preparation methods of the period. There is also the tea area where one not only learns about tea practices of the period, they also get to chat with the chaboshi (title given to tea practitioners of Song) about the Song aesthetics and teaware. We also have a paintings area where you can play the ancient version of where's wally/waldo. The final part of Yaji were two masterclasses, one of Tea and one of Kingfisher/peacock feather inlay craft. It was a humbling experience for all as it is much more complicated than it seems, even though we have already simplified the process for beginners! It was really more of an opportunity for people to understand the immense amount of skills and time required behind these ancient crafts. And I get to share some stories about its history, its controversies and debunk some myths! The tea students on the other hand, get to challenge themselves to a battle of whisking the froth while the tea remains warm. Of course Rome wasn't built in one day so they brought home their own set of Song tea to practise the craft. I will be waiting to see how that turns out in a few months! 📸 @nicyeozh #hanfugirl #hanfugirlscollective #yaji #autumn #craft #heritagecraft #ancientcraft #tea #songdynasty #ich #intangibleculturalheritage #immersive #funlearning #immersiveexperience #interactiveexpereince #uniqueexperience

Part 1 of Yaji, we set the room up with natural scents of autumn —chrysanthemums and prepared flower infused water for hand washing upon entering the space. Then we commenced with a piece of music from the Song period drama A Dream of Splendor, which was inspired by an actual piece of music from ancient China on the story of Wang Zhaojun (an ancient beauty). We proceeded to an overview lecture on Song dynasty culture, arts, practices and showed the audiences a few items such as the incense seal for time keeping, the kesi (tapestry) weave fans of flowers and the Song era paintings replicas. We also had a demonstration of Song style tea whisking practice with live guzheng music which ended in perfect timing as the tea whisking came to an end. 📸 @nicyeozh #hanfugirl #hanfugirlscollective #yaji #chineseculture #chineseart #chinesemusic #gathering #experiential #experientialmarketing #immersiveexperience

We decided to do a craft get together in preparation of our public workshops in time to come. So I put together 6 different Intangible cultural heritage crafts of the Chinese for an art jam of sorts. We had people sitting there with their craft kit from 10am till 6pm. And those who came just for 2 hrs. For the public workshop I will add in another 15mins historical sharing of these crafts and their actual processes and material. Crafting is deeply therapeutic, and cultural crafting is a whole new level where you realise a lot more about the ancient people's ingenuity and resourcefulness. #hanfugirl #hanfugirlscollective #craftsmanship #intangibleculturalheritage #ich #Chinese #chinesecraft #artjam #workshop
