I kept thinking about the question.
Who am I without all the things I hold close?

Without my work, my creations, my strength, my love, my purpose. Without the people who know me, the people I create for, the family that shaped me, the art that keeps finding its way through my hands. Without the parts of me that are serious, spiritual, disciplined, ambitious… and the parts that are completely ridiculous.

And maybe the answer is that none of these things exist separately from me.

My hands create because something inside me needs to become visible.
My strength was built in the places where I once thought I would break.
My love is the way I recognize the sacred in another person.
My purpose keeps changing shape, but the feeling underneath it has always been the same: to make something meaningful.

My spirituality is not somewhere outside of me. It is in the intuition I have learned to trust, in the quiet moments, in the questions with no immediate answers, in the strange certainty that every version of me has been leading me somewhere.

My designs are pieces of my inner world made tangible.
My friends remind me who I am when I forget.
My clients allow something imagined to become real.
My family is part of the story written into me long before I knew how to tell my own.
My art is the language I reach for when words are not enough.

And then there is simply myself.

Still becoming. Still unlearning. Still creating. Still laughing. Still loving. Still trying to understand why certain things call to me so deeply.

Maybe I am not meant to separate myself from all of these things to discover who I am.

Maybe who I am is the thread running through all of them.

The soul beneath every role.
The same energy taking a thousand different forms.

So who am I without all of it?

I am the one who was here before it began,
the one experiencing it while it unfolds,
and the one who will remain when every version of this life changes again.

I am the witness.
I am the creator.
I am the becoming.

What an incredible night at the Museum’s Benefit Gala & Auction 🌟 The theme was Lyme Light: An Evening of Art! My amazing colleagues & a dedicated group of super-volunteers pulled off a stellar event despite many challenges, including the Nor’easter that continues to rain on us. Congratulations & THANK YOU especially to Kerry Auld, a true hero, who chaired the event and then gifted me her own work of art- a necklace she made featuring reproductions from @florencegriswoldmuseum collection (last photo)!!! I’m so in awe of the talent and generosity that supports our Museum!!! Ps: I dressed as the Lyme Light and I’m not sure why I thought gold body glitter would be removable…I may still be wearing it the next time you see me - all in a day’s work! ✨
