Watteau and villa Noailles present Numbers, a moving visual encyclopedia imagined by Alexandre Silberstein and produced by Fantastic. Through five short films combining scientific observation and poetic sensibility, Numbers explores different ways of looking at the world, bringing together image, movement, architecture and contemporary creation. Presented for the first time at villa Noailles during the 41st Hyères Festival - Fashion, Photography, Accessories, the project enters into dialogue with the site’s architectural heritage and avant-garde spirit. On view at villa Noailles until February 28, 2027.

FASHION INSTINCT @PeterCopping presented his fourth show for the brand this season, having joined @Lanvin just two years ago. The English designer has since developed a distinctive language, drawing on the codes established by Jeanne Lanvin over a century ago. This new collection celebrated women through silhouettes inspired by major artistic figures, such as Elsa Peretti, Georgia O’Keeffe, & many others. We don’t know if Sharon Stone was part of Copping’s mood board this season, but the music from Paul Verhoeven’s film "Basic Instinct" (1992)—in which the actress starred—opened the show. It was composed by film score composer Jerry Goldsmith, who also wrote the scores for "Rambo" & "Alien". The track "Your Loft My Acid (Fearless Trans House Mix)" by the British electronic music group @DeathInVegasMusic was played next, followed by "Got 2 Let U" by the Swedish synth-pop duo @TheKnife, formed by Olof & Karin Dreijer. "The Here and After" is a track by Japanese composer @Jun.Miyake, heard at Alainpaul last season, performed with American singer Lisa Papineau. The song was released on his 2008 album "Stolen from Strangers" & appeared on the soundtrack to Wim Wenders’ "Pina" (2011), a film about the German dancer Pina Bausch, who was one of Peter Copping’s inspirations. Q Lazzarus’s spellbinding voice closed the show with her song "Goodbye Horses". It was used by Jonathan Demme in 1988 for his crime romance film "Married to the Mob", & then in 1991 for his film "The Silence of the Lambs". "Basic Instinct", The Knife, Death in Vegas, & then "Married to the Mob" & "The Silence of the Lambs"—the mood was at its darkest at Lanvin this season! In fact, these references also share the common thread of very memorable female roles, portrayed by Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, & Michelle Pfeiffer. Peter Copping kept it simple this season, but remained true to Jeanne Lanvin & her avant-garde spirit & talent, which paved the way for women’s empowerment. TEMPO, a collaboration with @johannaparv_ for her SS27 collection, spanning three rooms at @180.studios and previewing a series of films directed by @alexandresilberstein. When Johanna approached me to discuss incorporating interviews into her London Fashion Week showcase, we developed a concept and casting to capture the ethos of her SS27 collection. Held on 19 September as part of London Fashion Week, the exhibition introduces four designers and artists who demonstrate Parv’s technical rigour and deep engagement with materials, movement and process: @sasastucin, one half of design duo @soft_baroque, chef @imogenkwok, artist and ceramicist @phoebethegorgon, and architect @eel.nara.
