POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Some arrived curious. Others found a place to pause. Children settled into the grass and stayed awhile. At The Armory Show @thearmoryshow, Ancestral Currents brought Jamaica and South Florida’s Greater Everglades into conversation through film, sound, oral history, and performance. What unfolded was also a story of connection: people listening, resting, and finding their own way into the work. Ancestral Currents brings together work by AIRIE.Foundation alumni Ania Freer @goatcurrystudio, Arsimmer McCoy @mccoy_arsimmer, Cornelius Tulloch @corneliustulloch, and Kunya Rowley @kunyarowley. As AIRIE.Foundation celebrates 25 years, these encounters hold a special place in our story. They remind us that making room for art can also mean making room for one another. Through reflections from Rachael Barrett (@rachaelb360) and Tracey Robertson Carter (@trobertsoncarter), paired with photographs of the installation, we revisit the experience and the moments that stayed with us. To everyone who entered, listened, and stayed awhile: you became part of the story. Swipe through their reflections. We’d love to hear yours: what stayed with you? AIRIE.Foundation’s presentation of Ancestral Currents was supported in part by The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. ✨ #AIRIEFoundation #ContemporaryArt #InstallationArt

A tree islands grows @thearmoryshow It was an honor to be an artistic collaborator with ARIE.Foundation in support of Ancestral Currents and the video works of Ania Freer and Cornelius Tulloch. I loved that our booth became a respite for Fair attendees. Conversations unfolded on the beautiful bench designed by @ishkadesigns and children played with the feathery grasses. In so many ways, it felt alive. Thank you to @airie.foundation for the support and collaboration, to @goatcurrystudio and @corneliustulloch for their thoughtfulness and openness towards expanding the framework of what this installation could be. It was an honor to frame your work. Thank you also to @novej.studi0s for holding it down in the booth. To the Saint Agnes team: @kalliopestudios_ @sarah_likesflowers @jesscamacho @alexandrapopo To the crew at @javitscenter and @brooklyngrange for helping to rehome all of the plants and ensure a sustainable breakdown. And to the loading dock crew for wheeling us around and making sure we had all the pallets we needed. None of this is possible without each other and I’m so grateful. is happy to introduce artist @micro_way in 𝙏𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚 𝟭: 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚. Ching-Wei Wang (Way) is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York. Her practice explores the poetics and embedded politics of Taiwan’s unresolved post-war statehood, with attention to layered identities shaped by colonial histories, geopolitical tension, and ideological frameworks. This condition of cultural ambiguity informs her engagement with collective memory, image governance, and the construction of language. With a background in writing and dance, her work draws on inferred language and embodied movement. She works across photography, performance, installation, writing, and artist’s books. Her work has been exhibited in New York, California, Taiwan, and Seoul. She is the recipient of the 2025 Snider Prize from the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. Way’s performance activates the archive through repetitive bodily labor. The act of wiping becomes a political movement, allowing the collective trauma to be endured through the physical pain of the individual body. Working within the rhythm of tides, she transforms abstract notions of history and memory into tangible acts—wiping, folding, tracing, embroidering... within such repetition, afterimage marks multiple temporalities. Shoreline—the boundary between land and sea—is not a fixed line, but an ever-shifting in-between space shaped by tides, erosion, and the drift of continents. Even the most solid ground moves slowly over time: what once marked a border may sink into water or rise as land.
