CANADA AFTER DARK 2026🌙 | DAY 1 RECAP

'Our Future' is looking bright, Ottawa! 🌃🎶 What better soundtrack than our very own @returnofthejaded

Grateful to be volunteering with the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (@ottawamic) during Capital Music Week, connecting with the incredible people shaping our city's music scene.

A particularly special moment was seeing @farid_dagher (@city_atnight, @citygridwrks & @cityannx) on stage discussing the future of nightlife 🎤

From hosting local events ~10 years ago to helping lead these conversations today, his growth is truly inspiring. His initiatives have personally impacted my own journey with @rave.about.it & beyond 🫶✨

Seeing so many familiar faces from our EDM community, including DJs & promoters, alongside national & international nightlife leaders was absolutely incredible! 👏🔥

COMING UP THIS WEEKEND:

🏆🚀 FRIDAY:

1) Come celebrate Ottawa's biggest night in music at the Capital Music Awards at the NAC! Honouring the artists, creators & industry leaders shaping our music scene with live performances & 13 award categories! 🎟️ Grab your tickets at ottawamic.com

2) Return of the Jaded takes over GRIDWRKS for Capital Space Jam, hosted by @spacecamp.events, with a special filming of his upcoming ELITE music video! 👀

🎧🎶 SATURDAY: @dasa.musica & @lucas.h_sound take over the booth on Sparks Street ~ you won't want to miss these multi-talented creators! 🎉

My biggest takeaway? Opportunities start by showing up. Volunteer, get involved, & support your community. You never know where it might lead!

Our future is something we build together 🦋🤝🌎

The $60 plastic camera every photographer needs in their kit !! the HOLGA !!!

She is perfectly imperfect and semi unpredictable, which is what makes her so special !!! As long as your frame and composition looks good, the holga will make magic for you !! If you don’t already own one, I suggest you try her out 🤌🤍🤍

One year of GRIDWRKS, we’re celebrating on March 27-28 weekend!

Opening this space was a commitment to growing the City family and investing in the culture we believe in. Over the last twelve months, we’ve hosted new sounds, new collaborations, and new communities under one roof. It hasn’t been simple — growth never is — but the support from artists, promoters, and the dance floor has made it worthwhile. Thank you for backing the expansion and helping shape what GRIDWRKS has become.

_

On Friday March 27th, we open our one-year anniversary weekend at GRIDWRKS with a true pillar of underground house music: Doc Martin.

For more than three decades, Doc has been a constant presence on dance floors from San Francisco’s early acid house era to Panorama Bar in Berlin, Fabric in London, DC10 in Ibiza, and Coachella. A former tour DJ for Deee-Lite and a collaborator alongside artists like Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, James Brown, and Grace Jones, he represents a rare bridge between rave history and the present moment. What defines him isn’t the résumé — it’s the dance floor. Long-form, immersive sets that move through deep, tribal, psychedelic, and tech-leaning house with patience and control. No trends. Just trust, flow, and culture.

Co-presented by Pozativ (support by resident DJ Balu) and White Rabbit (support by resident DJ Rick Laplante), night one brings together an international architect of the underground and the local forces who helped shape GRIDWRKS’ first year.

On Saturday March 28 @offgridsaturdays celebrates their one-year anniversary, and we’re bringing together some of our favourite OFF GRID moments as special b2b sets:

JJ b2b OLI WEST

FRENCH KISS b2b JOSH MEADE

DOSEN b2b FASTR

Opening set by TEV.N

A weekend night dedicated to the artists, staff, promoters, and all of YOU—everyone who shaped year one, and the dance floor that made it possible. ♥️

This is Chelsea Athletica.
It’s the people. The energy. The friendships built & all the workouts done together — it’s so much more than we could have imagined when we first came up with this business idea over five years ago.

As a thank you for filling the barn on a daily, we chose three lucky members with big goals and great energy and decided to gift them each a full @lululemon outfit — a simple way to say thanks to the people who make this gym what it is.

Since opening in march @citygridwrks has quickly become a gathering place for Ottawa’s electronic music, culture, and community. This fall, we’re expanding with new events, projects, and collaborations. Every position, whether on the floor or behind the scenes, plays an important role in supporting the atmosphere of our venue and the people who make it what it is.
