I believe the farm is going to be absolutely stunning in 2027. Perhaps the thing I love most about gardening (and now farming if I could call it that) is that it NEVER stops. The sun shines, the rain falls, plants grow. So blessed to get to spend my days planting tomorrows. #garden #farming #flowerfarm #plantagarden #cutflowergarden Also a huge thank you to @farmerbaileyplugs @plug_connection_vista and @gro.n.sell. I ordered plugs from them on three occasions during the Flash Sales on Farmer Bailey’s website and every single tray was perfection.

I ordered these flower plugs from @farmerbaileyplugs back in July, and now it’s finally time to get them planted.

I chose the Fall Cottage Garden Mix and Fall Soft Pastel Mix, and there are so many flowers I’m excited about: campanula, snapdragons, delphinium, foxglove, poppies, pansies, nigella, Bells of Ireland, rudbeckia and more.

It’s going to be a beautiful spring.

The Big Fall Flip - Part 3

We barely skimmed by, but we avoided the frost this past weekend!! The fresh flower season will continue on for a few more weeks!

This week has been all about harvest, delivering, germinating seeds in the field, receiving shipments of ALL of the plant material, unboxing, watering more transplants (inside and out), collecting leaves and prepping beds for all of the fall perennial planting too. It has been a busy week, but after taking almost a full day off on Sunday, I’ve been taking what comes in stride…..

All in all it has been pretty great week. Quiet time in the field, soaking up this stunning fall weather while I work. Savoring the last of the sunshine, and my tan….. And knowing that the field is still producing, but winding down, little by little, for the rest of the year.

By next week I’ll be planting again, from sun up until sun down, every chance that I get…. Even though I’ll be sad to see the blooms fully go, for the ‘26 season, ‘27 is right around the corner and I’ll happily embrace the tidy and open field with all of the little green sprouts rooting in once again…..

A little more planting ahead of us at Riverbloom Farms!

Our latest shipment of flower starts arrived today from Farmer Bailey and Gro ‘n Sell! This batch includes Peter Cottontail, Lady’s Mantle , and Autumn Joy sedum, along with a few other varieties we’re adding to our fields.

It’s hard to believe we’re already planning for next spring and summer when we still have dahlias blooming in our fields. But I’m looking forward to seeing all these little plants growing and making their way into our bouquets next season.

Let's zhuzh it up… From a Simple Eucalyptus Garland to a Luscious and Editorial Floral Statement. 🌿🤍

At Boom & Bloom, we believe extraordinary wedding floral design begins with the art of transformation.

What started as a simple eucalyptus garland became a lush, cascading botanical installation, bringing movement, dimension, and architectural beauty to this wedding head table at Reading Farms Estate in Vermont.

Delicate white Phalaenopsis orchids spill effortlessly over the table’s edge, while sculptural ferns and vibrant Birds of Paradise introduce unexpected texture, color, and a touch of tropical sophistication.

The result? A contemporary botanical expression that transforms a traditional wedding head table into an unforgettable editorial moment.

50-128-210-288 - what do these numbers all mean??

For cut flowers, ordering plugs can be a huge time saver. My plugs are from my friend @thecottagecuttinggarden and @farmerbaileyplugs and I’m planting out mostly cold hardy annuals and perennials. Because I was pregnant, I didn’t have the bandwidth to start seed - so plugs are a lifesaver for helping me plan for spring flowers! 🌼

You can order plugs by number. The numbers mean how many plants are held by the size tray they are started in.

Larger numbers = smaller plugs, more plants 🌼🌼🌼

Smaller numbers = larger plugs, less plants 🌼

So a 288 is much smaller than a 128, but I get 160 more plants.

And many plug suppliers will bill trays as a slightly different number. For example, I say 125 in the video because Farmer Bailey bills them as though you are receiving 125 plants, even though the tray itself holds 128. I just remember the number I paid for 😂

Smaller plugs are typically cheaper per plant and you get so many more! But be ready to plant out soon after you receive them. Because there is so little soil, they will dry out faster in the tray.

Larger plugs have more mass and are more established, but tend to be more expensive than the smaller plugs per plant.

There are slight trade offs but either way, I bought myself some time because I was able to plant these out before frost.

Save this for when you want to order some specialty cut flower plugs and need to remember what the numbers mean 🌱

Let me know what you’re planting in the comments! Happy growing 🌼🌸🌱

Lisianthus is notoriously tricky to grow from seed so I started mine off with perfect plugs from @gardenclubplants @farmerbaileyplugs 🌱 There’s a reel on my page showing the plugs & more tips.

In the drought and crazy heat we had this year, crops really suffered, but Lisianthus is worth trying & definitely worth the patience needed! 🌸

Scroll through the photos & read the captions underneath for plenty of tips!

Do you grow lisianthus, or is this one you’re hoping to try? Tell me below! 👇

#Lisianthus #CutFlowerGarden #FlowerFarming #CutFlowers #FloralDesign

Lisianthus is notoriously slow to grow from seed, especially at the early stages. Buying young plug plants is an easier way to get started. Check out @farmerbaileyplugs @gardenclubplants for lots of varieties.

Plant in a sunny position with fertile, well drained soil. Space plants around 6–8 inches apart, or follow the spacing recommendations for your variety. Good air circulation helps keep plants healthy.

Keep the soil evenly moist, particularly while plants are establishing & during dry spells. Avoid waterlogging, & water around the base rather than over the foliage where possible.

Keep the bed weed free & provide a balanced fertiliser if needed. Taller varieties may benefit from flower support netting to keep those gorgeous stems straight.

For the longest vase life, cut when one or two flowers on a stem have opened & the remaining buds are showing colour. Use clean, sharp snips & harvest during the cooler part of the day.

Remove all foliage that would sit below the waterline.
• Place stems in a thoroughly clean vase with fresh water & flower food.
• Recut the stems slightly at an angle.
• Change the water every couple of days, clean the vase & top up the flower food as directed.
• Keep your arrangement away from direct sunlight, radiators, hot rooms & ripening fruit.
