Such a full week - Started out walking & talking with my darling @tracey_nevill & meeting the new additions at @olicoetzee’s workplace @tearsanimalrescue 😻
Then celebrating our vivacious @lush_food_love_food ‘s bday (on Women’s Day nogal) by feasting on her magnificent food (never fear, you too can indulge at @ohana_beach_cafe ) while laughing and crying and dancing together 🕺🏾

Then it was another drama diva’s turn @debi.kate 🧜🏻‍♀️ 🎂 📚 at our usual - @cinnamon_sage_cafe @harrygoemansgardencentre as my bokkie @seejackig performed his final Matric drama prac (so so sick 🤧 🥲) Nursed the kids through flu with thanks to @ernst.vanderwal ‘s honey 🍯 🫚 🍋 and now Jack’s at National Debate Trials all weekend 👏🏾💪🏾
Good luck my boy 🤞🏾

Students art & presentations soooo cool @stellenboschvisualarts 😎 A fun wild clay forage with my frolicsome students @kianjohnpayn @farren.6 @brenn.nel @hopegeorgiaa @danabarclay_ @hannah.burke.xo 👐🏾 thank you @boschendal for being so generous 🙏🏾🧡🥰 My nails seem dyed permanently ochre…& I love it 💅🏾

@susanaesteban_ and I enjoyed our traditional bday celebration of a delish boogie with @dance.love.space 💃🏾 & THE yummiest brekkie chaser @the_foodbarn_noordhoek 😋

***Grateful*** for those who’ve written alongside me this week ✍🏾- @adals @bugsandharts @cathyparkkelly @parkhaines @chantalstewart40 @sueadams999 @thelightscripts @thelovepicturecompany (& special shout out to my kitties) - while patiently listening to me whinge about The Diss and the sorry state of my poor bod 😖

Book Club joy with @joy_ann_watson @qarnitaloxton & the gang 🦄 📚 Sitting with smart sassy women chatting about books is one of my absolute favourite things everrrrr 🥰
Another low cal high protein brownie experiment…and I think we have a winner. 10kg down and feeling so much better for it (controversial in the current moment, but I’m back to my resting bitch weight) …Recipe 👇🏾

Happy Mothers day to all you diamonds out there. We know it’s one of the toughest gigs on the planet - whether you are caring for your own child, a step child, a horse, 10 cats, your own or a blended fam of 10! Caregiving is one of the greatest challenges imaginable. Sweetest highs and sometimes gut-wrenching lows. Especially in this demanding pace of life.

I chose this picture because it was taken in Covid lockdown when we got stranded on La Digue island for 3 months (was meant to be an Airbnb booking for 6 days). It was taken on a world famous beach Anse Source d’Argent. That is normally rammed and you have to pay. Well save to say we had the entire island (and this beach) to ourselves - only 22 foreigners stuck together with locals for all that time. Usually up to 3000 foreigners on the island visiting. If you want to get a glimpse you can head over to @thecrusoes which was our private account for family and close friends during our stay to get an idea how remote and crazy the time was.

But it was the purest simplest form of being a mother I could have imagined. The slowest pace of life - of course underpinned by massive uncertainty and fear - but the idyllic pace of being together and mothering in a most present way. Off on a bike to snorkel after a day of online school with just a bikini and a paréo. Otherworldly. More stories for another day. 🌴 🥥 🐠 🐙

Have a most glorious day spoiling or being spoilt. And hope you love all your kg gifts if you were lucky enough. 💌😚
