POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Nine years. A long road. Many endings that sometimes didn’t announce new beginnings. Depression. Love and death. Infinite nostalgia. Hunger. Music to keep from dying. Flesh; so much flesh over bones, over organs, over memories stacked like meat. Mountains of memories: kisses, hugs, laughter, sleepless nights, more love; even more hate, sunrises. New beginnings.

The story of AKASHA is the story of bodies. Of bodies fighting against the weight of oblivion, against the mortality of memory. AKASHA is a living body upon a dead soul. The story of bodies reaching for light, reaching for movement; contact with other bodies. The story of AKASHA is the story of dawn. A body fighting not to stay still; to dance when no one is watching. A body bleeding with life. A sacrificial body. A body that does not sleep. A body fighting, despite the exhaustion, to stay above the surface.

As we say in Mexico: thank you for so much and sorry for so little. Life is never perfect and that which is worth it has never been easy. My gratitude will always be with the people who have supported us. To the venues that have opened their doors to us. To the artists who have trusted us with their most precious art. To the bodies that have danced, that have laughed, and that have cried with our music. To the bodies that have loved. To the body that resists despite the life that, second by second, kills us. My gratitude is with the body and with life itself which, despite so much death, smiles at me through rusty cracks of the future. I tell you, there is life thanks to so much death.

My love is for those who were, are, and will be. My love is for their bodies, their minds, their spirits that endure. AKASHA has never been a record label. It has been an extension of my body and my soul. Hence the constant disappearances, the imminent silences. Perhaps that explains its success or its failure: being the body of a person far from perfection.

This Friday we will release our second compilation to celebrate nine years of bodies. There is nothing left to do but thank the twelve artists who are participating.

See you soon…
Erick 🤍
