TC007 Sourced for @fasil123 Been friends with Fas for a long time. He’s been helping get this thing off the ground before it had a name. Finding him the right watch took a while. We talked about it a lot. We shared references, we hunted, the conversation was an absolute joy. He knows what he likes and it isn’t what everybody else likes, which makes it challenging and more interesting. He loves the underrated and the details.
Steinhart Ocean 39 GMT 500 premium on jubilee. Took some doing to find a good one. The guy I bought it from was solid. You meet good people doing this. That’s not nothing. In fact it might be everything.

Hey All! A couple new tunes out today...great memories of making these with the help of some dear friends and heroes. A couple songs highlighting my thoughts and memories of growing up in the church.
Let It Burn was recorded at Jackpot Studio with our pal Larry Crane back during the Keep The Good Ones Close session. Featuring @jennycd on organ, Paul Brainaird @brainard.paul on trumpet and Little Sue singing harmonies.
All Those Stories was recorded at The Map Room in Portland. I was lucky enough to have my friend @buntonhollow come and sing beautiful vocals as well as play the banjo. This day and this song will always mean a lot to me.

CRASHING WAVES OF APPRECIATION: Holy shit! Thank you to EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU who came to our DDC Backyard Sale! It was a SMASHING SUCCESS and we moved a mountain of treasures from my Tuff Shed(s) to yer Tuff Shed!

We got a lot of space back! Plans are being drawn up to fill said space with new treasures “I have to have.” Deal with it, Kondo.

Now onto the catalyst that prompted this flurry of texting:

A-SIDE | “Magnified and Reduced by Inches.”

From a lyrics standpoint, “Magnified” is one of the most difficult songs I’ve ever written. Meant every word of it. During our touring years, we eventually had to stop performing the song live. Good song, but too much of a bummer. Singing it was a one way ticket to hell, every night.

B-SIDE | “Pablo y Zelda,” a slow rolling post-rock burner. Named after Gabe’s cats. Beautiful song. Lotta bleeps, bloops, and boings. Lotta vamps and feedback squalls. Lotta strategic distortion. Lotta dive bombs, drum rolls, and dreamy percussion. Lotta quiet thoughts said out loud.

Lyrically, “Pablo y Zelda” is a meditation on giving up the ghost.

SIDE NOTE, PART 2 | Eric Akre played drums on the Juno x Jade Tree 7”. At various points in his musical life, he’s also been the drummer for Treepeople, Brotherhood, Galleon’s Lap, Didly Squat, Atoms and Void, Christ On a Crutch, Built To Spill, etc. As well, he’s drum tech’d for Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead, which is fun / weird / rad.

JADE TREE | JT was a great record label. Nice people. When asked to record a single, we said yes. BOOM, done.

COVER ART | “Fresh Cut Flowers, painting by Kevin Willis.

In the 90s, among other works, Willis sculpted the dinosaurs for the film ‘Jurassic Park’; made those spooky stop-motion videos for Tool; constructed Danny Devito’s face as The Penguin in the Batman movies; and painted covers for 3 of 4 Juno singles.

Wild times.
