Is A.I a threat to the Patriarchy?!

This thought just popped into my head while reading Achille Mbembe’s challenging work NecroPolitics.

This is the quote that got me thinking:

“Yet, the rapid advance in automated systems is threatening the exceptionalism of the human species. Concerns about the technological singularity of our age are increasingly couched in the eschatological and apocalyptic language of ‘human obsolescence or extinction.’”
Achilles Mbembe - Necropolitics

Is A.I. a threat to the patriarchy? And, are the tech bros scared and getting more violent as they lose control?

Would love to know your thoughts!

I ran out of chai last week and earl grey always reminds me plain toast, England, and the boy who first broke my heart into a million tiny pieces. He tried to convince me that distance could never work because he needed me, but he had no idea what I needed, he never asked. To be fair, I didn’t even know what I needed either. I was a teacup shaped container who thought she was a 19-year-old girl. Some thought I was brave for flying to London by myself that young, especially after the explosions in 2005. I was headed that way the same month. My mother thought I was foolish. And I was, but it was in the way the fool is the beginning of the tarot deck. Once you’ve live long enough you’ll find the journey of the fool was always about love, that’s how you can hold the entire world in your hand.

Five years ago this weekend, I went to PCT Days for the first time.

Columbia Sportswear had brought me to the Gorge to model plus-size clothing. I was around 400 pounds, trying to figure out what I was doing on the internet.

A few months later, my Stupid Hike for My Stupid Mental Health went viral and changed my life.

This weekend I went back to PCT Days, nearly 170 pounds lighter, on my way to interview Congresswoman Andrea Salinas of Oregon’s 6th Congressional District.

That hit me.

We hiked and had an incredible conversation about public lands, mental health and Oregon. My first in-person interview with a member of Congress.

This platform has changed a lot in five years. So have I.

I’m still the Stupid Hike guy, but you’ve probably noticed me talking more about civics and politics too. Christian nationalism through the lens of a former evangelical pastor. Protecting public lands. Mental health policy. I’ve even gotten more involved myself, from becoming a Democratic precinct committee person to attending Trending Up in D.C.

Next weekend I’m interviewing Governor Tina Kotek in Portland, then attending Oregon Wild’s Rabble-Rouser with Pattie Gonia.

And somehow I’m about to cross 300,000 followers here.

I’m just incredibly grateful. I have this weird platform because you all decided to listen, and I want to use it for things that matter while still making you laugh and taking you on stupid adventures.

There’s a new podcast coming soon that will reflect that evolution too.

And if you’ve asked about supporting this independent work, my Buy Me a Coffee is with my other links. But truly, watching, commenting, saving and sharing is the best support you can give me.

Five years ago, I had no idea where this was going.

I still don’t.

But i am I grateful I get to find out with all of you.

You don’t get to claim you’re “apolitical” while showing up to celebrate a president’s birthday at a highly publicized political event.
That’s not neutrality. That’s a choice.
And look, @natebargatze can attend whatever event he wants. That’s his right. But let’s stop pretending that appearing at a political spectacle centered around one of the most polarizing divisive and deplorable figures in modern American history is somehow the same thing as staying above politics.
The idea that celebrities can enjoy the benefits of taking a side while avoiding any accountability for taking one is getting old.
If you don’t want people to associate you with a political movement, don’t show up to its party.
Actions speak louder than press statements. #maga #natebargatze #ufcwhitehouse #magacult #progressive

Looks like LA won’t have to listen to Spencer Pratt complain for the next 5 months! There are still ballots being counted, but The Associated Press has determined that Nithya Raman - not Spencer - will be advancing to the general election in November to face off against mayor Karen Bass. And I would strongly urge LA voters to vote for someone new *with actual experience working in government* (important clarification in the hellscape that is American politics in 2026). I’m stoked to see that Raman’s chances have surged in the past few days to 43% according to @polymarket but either way, it looks like America’s 2nd largest city won’t be led by a former realty TV star.

Well done, LA! 👏
