It's Filipino American History Month (FAHM) and to celebrate, as we close the @facfilmfestival today, I'm presenting the opening 4 minutes of my Rock 'n' Roll feature film, THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE, alone with a teaser trailer for my feature documentary, WE ALL RISE, a film chronicling the last couple years of our FilAm Creative community and its place among Asians in Hollywood. Come by at 10am for the FAC Block screening.

Also, here is the 1st of 5 posters I created for THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE, featuring some of my outstabding cast and collaborators, Producers Alec Arnold and Suzzie Weslien, Xandar, Fauna Nicole, Pyro Johnson, Heidi Cox-London, Jason Tobosa, and Solar Greye. I was inspired by Jean Godard's Le Petit Soldat film poster, Japanese Manga, Prince's Purple Rain and the current Absolute Batman

The longline for the film:
A Rock Star is about to go on an ambitious world
tour launching his new album when his plans are shattered by the Covid-19 pandemic which results in the deaths his closest friends. After the pandemic, he struggles to adapt to the seismic shift in the entertainment industry and he reevaluates his priorities in life while goes in a journey to rediscover meaning in his art and his purpose.

Here's a 9 page preview of the 2nd Comic Book I'm working on (and editing) -- currently writing and drawing the graphic novel companion to my Rock 'n' Roll film, "The Trouble with Love." The comic book details the back story of the film, as my character, Rock Star Edan Marquez a.k.a. LP7 struggles with the guilt of losing his parents at a young age & the deaths of his closest friends during during the pandemic. It affects his romantic relationships, where commitment is tenuous, almost dangerous given the tragedy in hos life amidst the chaos and seismic shift in the entertainment industry and global uncertainty in the age AI and war. All of it informs his music and stories as he wrestles with the problems of love.

I took the approach of telling the story in a wild, unconventional, highly artistic and uncompromising way, using different storytelling techniques, a very punk rock/ hip-hop approach, using mixed media and edgy, shambolic storytelling, that's at once raw and lyrical. My character is obsessed w/ greatness & he taps into the essence his inspirations. This approach allows me to explore surrealistic experiences as he dreams of attending the Inklings gatherings with JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis, & he channels Elvis, Prince, Michael Jackson, and the Beatles in his music.

It's been so exciting & creatively fullfilling to work with my friends in the movie. In these preview pages I have friends coming in and out of the comic book -- comic book writer Jim Krueger (Marvel's Earth X, Justice for DC), screenwriter Peter Briggs (Hellboy) are in the Inklings sequence. My cast from the film features @director_xandar as actor/ entertainment mogul & my best friend who falls into an affair with my girl friend, Pop Star Nico, played by @faunanicole_music, Suzzie Weslien is my new love & muse, Anita, a world traveling journalist turned famed author,
@msheidicox is Mandy, my best friend from childhood who crushed by Hollywood & a secret illness, @kaitlyn.fae
is Allison Reyes, who sings on a track intended for Nico, @pyro2sick is rapper-producer mogul Jet Johnson, and there's also other friends @katanski
