what fills my cup; reader’s edition .*•🩵.•🏹

i made a ‘what fills your cup?’ page in my sisterhood journal, so i figure while i wait for the sisters to add theirs, i’ll post this bookish edition. 🙂‍↕️

anyone share similar thoughts? i’ve tagged a few friends if they so choose to do their own versions!🫶🏼

💌: reading is political — always has been and always will be!💫 take care, stay safe — i’m sending all my love to each and every one of you!

books i’d bring to hell 🖤📓🗡️*.•

#tohellandbooktag 🏷️

• howl’s moving castle
• jane eyre
• twelfth night
• flint and feather

remember when you and your friends would contemplate which book you’d want with you if you were stranded on a desert island?

my inspiration came from this age-old question, paired with alice’s personal choice of bringing proust on her journey to hell ‘in case she got bored’ in r.f. kaung’s latest novel, Katabasis. i chose four books (one for each letter of ‘hell’ because i simply could not choose just one) to toss in my satchel for the trek. 🐈‍⬛

i’ve tagged some friends to share their picks!💌

i get absolutely giddy when i spot an Anne book on the shelves. 🙂‍↕️

with countless reprintings wrapped in lovely covers, there is such a joy in collecting them! as of now, i have all but number 3 & 7 in the Anne of Green Gables Bantam Seal Book collection (1980’s). then, a couple months ago i found a 1967 edition of Anne of Green Gables (hardcover & printed by a press that no longer exists!)👒

~

does anyone else have a certain niche in their book collection that they focus on?

🌙💐 spring fever booktag!!

ty bestie @matchamonologues for the tag <333 #springfeverbooktag

🌧️ april showers (a book that made you cry):
i honestly cannot remember the last book that made me cry, but i know a lot of romance manga always punch me in the heart with its angst!!

🥀 petals (a book with a floral cover): Snow White with the Red Hair manga & A Sign of Affection manga!! featured in the post, they always have stunning florals on the covers!! & swwtrh is my roman empire ahahah

💐 flourish (a book that exceeded expectations): Fourth Wing & Spark of the Everflame. I don’t consider myself a romantasy girlie, but @storryskies never fails to recommend amazing romantasy stories that I end up being absolutely obsessed with!! could not put any of these down & now I have physicals of both series <3

🐝 a buzz (a book that had all the hype): kindred’s curse series for sure!! i kept seeing it everywhere, but just was not starting it for so so so long, and like I said above, my wonderful romantasy recommendation giving friend never leads me astray… i read book 1 and 2 in two days. They are just so worth the hype

happy spring equinox ! .*🧚🏻•.🌷.*🐝•.

the first days of spring bring the freshest air and sunshine to lighten my heart. catch me tucked away in the corner of a café with a cozy read. 🐈 currently finding comfort in #thegoodbyecat by #arikawahiro !

i saw @literatureandchai ‘s #springfeverbooktag & thought it would be fun to join in. tagged some friends but please, if you see this post, consider yourself tagged!⭐️

🌦️april showers (a book that made you cry): Five Little Indians by Michelle Good; a heart achingly raw and powerful read. 🧡

🌷petals (a book with a floral cover): A Sign of Affection by Suu Morishita has stunning floral covers featuring the main characters on each volume. my favourite floral depiction is volume 1! (i feel like i always mention ASOA when i do tags but it’s just such a wonderful story.🥹)

🌱 flourish (a book that exceeded expectations): What You Are Looking For is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama was my first read after returning from Korea; it put life into such a kaleidoscopic perspective of self-love and reflection.💚

🐝 a buzz (a book that had all the hype): so this is more of a personal hype! my imprint published Mina’s Matchbox by Yōko Ogawa and that is SO high on my list for the praise of her preceding work, The Memory Police. (which i also hope to read soon!)🦋

🧺 picnic (a lighthearted book perfect for this season): i’ve been DYING to dip into Emily Wilde’s magical world with Encyclopedia of Faeries, so i feel that would be so fitting for this turn of season!🧚🏻

Talk about your tbr tag

Thanks @domis.reading for the tag 💕 (even though I was tagged back in May of last year 😅 Listen, anyone that has ever or ever wants to tag me, pls do!!! But just know I’ll never be good at keeping up with them 😂)

I’m always a little scared to think too much about my tbr because it’s currently at 535 on Goodreads, and I seem to add books faster than I can read them.

📚newest addition to my tbr:
Some recent ones are My Friends by Fredrick Backman and Let’s Call Her Barbie by Renée Rosen

📚next book I plan to pick up:
I just picked up my library holds, so I’m starting The Pairing, and Somewhere Beyond the Sea will likely be my next read

📚prettiest cover:
Girl, Serpent, Thorn is a book that I added to my tbr solely because of the pretty cover

📚most hyped book on my tbr:
I saw The Nightmare before Kissmas EVERYWHERE this holiday season, and everyone seemed to love it. I’m saving it for next Christmas

📚book I keep putting off:
Making my way through Les Mis is a life goal of mine, but it just seems so overwhelming that I haven’t started it yet

📚book I haven’t heard much about:
And They Were Roommates and Run Away with Me are the books on my tbr with the least number of reviews. They both come out this spring. I’ve got an eARC of Run Away with Me, and I’m just waiting to see if And They Were Roommates gets approved 🤞🏻

❓How many books are on your tbr? And how do you keep track of your tbr?

What book do you think people associate with you??

How (some of) my friends see me tag💗

I saw this fun tag, of sorts, floating around the internet and some of my wonderful and lovely friends agreed to participate with me🥹 Thank you so much y’all, honestly, this little tag had me all in my feels. I’m really so very grateful for all the close friends booksta has brought me over the years. I’ve always struggled with making meaningful friendships and always felt so jealous of people who made it look so dang easy. Growing up I often felt on the outskirts of everything, like I didn’t really belong. I very rarely ever feel that way now and in part, that is because of I’ve found so many kindred souls. Anyways, that’s my very long-winded way of saying
1. I love y’all so much
2. Thank you for being my friends to those who felt comfy participating and those who also didn’t🥹💗
3. In case you sometimes still feel a bit like you’re on the outskirts, please know I’m always down for more random chats. No introduction needed :)

Also forgot to add in the template but the words were: animal, place, free space, character, season, color, book and flower

🌙🎄 the peppermint hot chocolate tag ☕️🍫❄️

ty @makenziereads_ for tagging me in @adelereadsromance’s book tag!!!

i’ve realized in creating this post how little red-covered books i actually own in physical instead of as ebooks ahaha.

♥️ candy cane: fav red book cover:
— see when i google a photo of the iron flame cover, it’s red but when I tried to take this flatlay with my copy, it was soooo orange compared to everything else so i didn’t include it.
so officially, i’d say A Sign of Affection Vol. 10’s cover, which i also do not physically own but read online!
(unofficially, iron flame 🤭

🤍 marshmallows: a sweet read
— Picking Daisies on Sundays is SUCHHH a cute little college, second chance romance. I adored every single second of it

🍫 cocoa powder: go to Christmas drink
— caramel brûlée lattes or peppermint mochas. funny enough, my peppermint mocha mug from Mahal Ohana has a caramel brûlée latte inside of it aha

❄️ whipped cream: book on your wishlist
— it’s endless, but definitely Onyx Storm and the next volume of SWWTRH whenever that drops 🥹

☕️ peppermint: a refreshing read
— anything by @matchamonologues

🤎 chocolate sauce: fave mmc
- Kai Rhodes from the Windy City series
- Kai Young from the King of Sin Series
- Obi (i think he counts as a main character at this point) from SWWTRH

🥛milk: book you’re frothing to read
just like @makenziereads_ i literally cannot wait for onyx storm like i wasn’t into romantasy until i read fourth wing in the span of a day. it’s so bad. so so so bad. i need it.

tagging some of you lovelie booksta besties & anyone else who sees this and wants to participate!!
