💛Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World Review💛

Based on a children’s book written by @kateisdrawing, @fantasticallygw has been brought to the stage by Kenny Wax, producer of Six. With a similar layout to the extremely successful @sixthemusical, with an 80-min show, no interval, 9 brilliant songs, and a small cast, it brings the same feelings of girl-power and sheer joy that Six has given to audiences since 2017. Although the show is written with younger theatre-goers in mind, this pop-extravaganza is perfect for all audiences.

It follows 10 year old Jade (and Bearoncé!) who runs away on a school trip to a museum. She finds herself in a closed-off exhibit, wishing for an adventure. She meets a whole host of (you guessed it!) Fantastically Great Women, including Amelia Earhart, Frida Kahlo, Emmeline Pankhurst and Jane Austen and many more. This show is very much an ensemble piece, and each actor shines, especially throughout their songs. My favourite has to be Deeds Not Words, led by Emmeline Pankhurst (played by incredible Swing @s.simpsson at my performance), with Lullaby Little Girl, led by Rosa Parks (the unbelievably talented @iamreneelamb ) being a close second. The brilliant @jadekennedy5 did Frida Kahlo justice with the song A World of Colour, and the incomparable @cmodestou brought the wonderful Gertrude Ederle to life. @fayth_ifil absolutely shone leading the show as Jade - her vocals absolutely blew me away, and I cannot wait to see what else she does next!

The design of this show was absolutely brilliant. I absolutely adored the set and costumes (from the genius that is @josco_design - I loved her Emilia costumes too!), and the lighting design from @zoespurr_ld made the production an absolute riot of colour. The fantastic sound design was by Carolyn Downing , and @therhimesmethod ’s choreography was so perfect.

I really, truly adored this show. It’s the perfect entry into theatre for younger audiences, but it also shines as a piece of theatre for anyone to see. I really would urge you to catch it as it makes its way around the UK on tour!
