The calendar says holiday cheer, but the room smells like leather jackets and burnt tinsel, so it must be time for the Holy Diver 4th Annual Xmas Party. $10 at the door or hand over an unopened toy if you want to start December with at least one good decision. We’ve packed a stack of giveaways in the back room beside the broken light fixture. Keep an eye out. The lineup steps in and shakes the place sideways: STRANGE WAYS WIRED WRONG YEAH BUD!!! AGE OF DESPAIR Each group brings its own flavour of noise, triumph, and questionable life choices. Slide over to the UNHOLY CLAUSE BOOTH, where our Diver Santa poses for photos with the same energy he brings to late-night parking-lot conversations. The suit’s old, the beard’s older, and the expression does all the heavy lifting. Then check THE HOLIDAY CASH GRAB, our seasonal take on a raffle. Bills fly around, the crowd argues, and the pot lands somewhere useful. Every bit goes straight to TOYS FOR TOTS, making this the rare moment where Diver nonsense helps somebody on purpose. Bring a toy, bring a pal, or just bring yourself and hope no one asks questions. Xmas at the Diver: the paint peels, the bands shred, and somehow the place keeps running. ••• #holydiverldn #raisehellstayawhile #ldnont

For the last 30 years, Matt Thibideau has been involved in making electronic music. He started off with his Moog Prodigy, a tape machine, and a drum machine. Matt dove into making electronic, industrial pop songs in 1989-1990. His basement soon became the place where he and his twin brother Mark would start their first project called the Waxbean Orchard. This was all in a small town called “Wallaceburg” Ontario (located close the American border not far from Detroit). Over time Matt’s interest in electronic music and passion for synthesizers grew. He relocated to Toronto where his chances of releasing records & performing increased. Matt dove into making ambient and techno music after experiencing some of the local underground parties. This lead to several releases on many international record labels. Assemble Music, Cynosure, 7th City, Irenic, Berg Audio, Joule Imprint, Thule, Sushitech and Vade Mecum are just a few that Matt has released records with. He has performed live at several venues and festivals and prefers to perform without a computer. Venues such as Mutek (Montreal & Buenos Aries), C.O. pop festival (Cologne), Observatori (Valencia), Day For Night (Houston), The Bunker (NYC), Untitled (Toronto), Tresor, Club Der Visionare, Heidigluhen & Watergate (Berlin) , Ministerium Club (Lisbon), Sunwaves (Romania), Club Guesthouse (Bucharest) and Oslo (Detroit) have welcomed his live performances amongst many others. Matt has a small record label called “Obsolete Components” based on the love of using his vintage synthsesizers and was featured in the documentary “I Dream Of Wires”. These synthesizers are his inspiration for new sounds and ideas. Catch Matt playing live in London this Saturday!

Wednesday, April 9 it's @theastraljams at @richmondtavernlive. Though we're not officially part of the @londonjazzfestca going on throughout April, we do trace our lineage through the marginal, though important, "free jazz" and avant-garde traditions. Think Ayler, Coleman, late-Coltrane, the Downtown Scene, liberally sprinkled with sonic experimentation from science fiction and chops from progressive rock. If you like non-mainstream, improvised instrumental music, then you're welcome here. And if you don't like that kind of music, you're also welcome here! . . . #guitar #guitaristsofinstagram #guitarist #guitarists #519ldn #519guitar #519guitarist #519guitarists #ldnent #ldnont #ldnmusic #improviser #improv #improvisation #improvisedmusic
