The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis is a two-island country located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. 🇰🇳 The earliest known inhabitants were the Igneri, an Arawakan-speaking group believed to have settled the islands around 1000 BC. They referred to Saint Kitts as "Liamuiga," meaning "fertile land," and Nevis as "Oualie," or "land of beautiful waters." These names reflected the islands' lush vegetation and scenic beauty. 🇰🇳 Circa 1300 BC, the Kalinago (Caribs) had migrated to the islands. The Kalinago brought their own traditions, including skilled seafaring and pottery-making. They called Saint Kitts "Liamuiga" and Nevis "Oualie," preserving the names given by their predecessors. The Kalinago developed a society based on fishing, agriculture, and trade with neighboring islands, and their presence left a lasting impact on the islands' cultural landscape. 🇰🇳 The arrival of Europeans in the early 17th century marked a turning point for Saint Kitts and Nevis. In 1623, the British established their first West Indian colony on Saint Kitts, followed shortly by the French. The island became a strategic base for further colonial expansion and a site of repeated conflicts between European powers. Nevis was colonized by the English in 1628. 🇰🇳 The islands became centers for sugar production, reliant on enslaved African labor. The journey toward self-governance began in the mid-20th century as decolonization movements swept across the Caribbean. After years of negotiations and political change, Saint Kitts and Nevis achieved full independence on September 19, 1983. 🇰🇳 Notable Saint Kitts and Nevis figures include legendary actress, Cicely Tyson; Judge Constance Baker Motley, influential civil rights lawyer, the first Black woman to serve as a federal judge in the United States, and a pivotal figure in the civil rights movement; Kim Collins, world-class sprinter who won gold in the 100 meters at the 2003 World Championships; Alexander Hamilton, statesman, economist, co-author of the Federalist Papers and one of the U.S. founding fathers. 🇰🇳 #StKittsNevis #StKitts #SaintKittsNevis #SaintKitts #Nevis #Arawak #Kalinago #CaribbeanHeritage #CaribbeanLens

Removing Cucumber Suckers Why 🌿Promote more fruit development 🌿Encourage healthier plant 🌿Higher quality fruits What are suckers 🌿 Small branches that grows between a leaf and th main stem 🌿they grow in the same area the flower and can be istaken as a budding fruit 🌿they encourage branching and fuller or bushier growth of the plant Is it ok to leave suckers? 🌿 Yes 🌿if you want more fruit and the focus is not on higher quality. 🌿the fruit grown on suckers are equally as good as those grown on the main stem When deciding to remove or keep sucketd the decision becomes more high quality fruit versus more regular quality fruit #eatwhatyougrow 🥒 #growwhatyoueat 🥕 #whenyoucantbuygrow 🥥
