Thanks to University of South Carolina First Lady Ero Aggelopoulou-Amiridis and Cocky for joining the Feed the Flock team today to celebrate the donations of five refrigerators and four microwaves by Hyatt and a Chevy cargo van by Hendrick! The new refrigerators and microwaves will be placed all over campus to make the individual ready-to-eat meals prepared by Feed the Flock more readily available for those who need them. We are so excited to nominate Dr. Scott Taylor as our Food Hero for #FoodWastePreventionWeek!

Dr. Taylor leads the @feed.the.flock organization, helping connect surplus food with gamecocks in need.

As Dr. Taylor shared: “Feeding people has always been a passion of mine, but I get even more enjoyment through Feed the Flock than I did in restaurant kitchens, knowing we are feeding people who may be struggling and stopping unnecessary food waste.”

Thank you, Dr. Taylor, for turning your passion for food into a mission that makes a difference in our gamecock community!

Have you heard of Feed the Flock? It’s our food donation program on campus, where students, faculty, and staff have access to free meals on campus! In the past year, we donated about 8,000 pounds of food, where Feed the Flock has packaged over 6,000 meals from our donations. Stop by the CommUnity Shop in the Coliseum to grab yourself a meal! #Sustainability #CarolinaFoodCo. #FeedTheFlock

We're excited with the impact we've made so far, and don't plan on slowing down! That’s a wrap on the 2026 SEC Food Pantry Summit! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who attended, presented, and contributed to making this event such a success. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with student leaders, professional staff, and community partners from across the SEC to share ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen support for students’ basic needs.

Together, we are creating stronger campus communities and expanding access to the resources students need to thrive. Thank you for being part of these important conversations!
