Big ethereal space pumped with haze and all the foot-candle fire power we could harness blasting through @thelightbridge CRLS reflectors into the windows on a mixed April weather day provided a suitable backdrop for a couple of songs filmed in a one-shot manner with the voices of @alicemerton and @lcvchoir echoing off of the beamed church ceiling. I love it when actors take on a completely unlike role than what they usually play. @officialdannydyer was invested with such an earnest desire to portray this priest. INVISIBLE written and directed by @gilbertkyemjnr just screened at @maniffofficial over the weekend . Shot on Alexa Mini with Cooke Speed Panchro lenses and lit with the Cine Reflect Lighting System (BTS to follow) It was an honour to work with you G and shoot this film. It was done in only ONE day but we maxed out (despite a 3hrs power cut on that street). You are so eager to make it the best it can be and along the way you show such a curious and open mind in the process which lets us have those honest conversations about intentions and creative ideas. All flashback scenes in LAMARA were filmed in fields, forest, rural huts and a chilli plantation. The memories of lead character Okello transport us back into his past of being a rebel soldier, hiding in the bush for many years. Most of those ‘soldiers’ didn’t become fighters voluntarily but were abducted at a young age (ever heard of Joseph Kony?!) Instead of focussing on the brutality and suffering that first come to mind, LAMARA is much more a tale of lost love and humanity during war. Here are some more BTS snaps of the cast and crew sweating in the humid heat, plagued by mosquitos and the constant battle for time against a setting sun. Our beautiful cast was predominantly formed by local actors @boyoonha had found in Gulu. For some of them it was their first experience in front of a camera. Pic 2 📷 by @eddie_power_photography

After 2 years of working on 13 Virtual Production commercials, documentaries & music videos in 7 different volumes, @Marsvolume & @bildstudios.social asked me to come pass on some of my experience and insights to an enthusastic group of 17: Directors, Producers, DOPs and VFX supervisors. ⁠ ⁠ They were a wonderfully eager bunch and had clearly absorbed a vast amount of information over the previous 4 days. Learning about Camera Tracking, LED panels, Unreal and Brompton was covered by those experts, but the last day was my opportunity to give the perspective of Camera VP integration.⁠ ⁠ I spent time talking about such things as 'How to catch out a VP DOP' and 'The Challenges of VP & how to avoid them costing you (over)time'. The rest of it was a mix of theory, group discussion and the students getting stuck in making their first VP scene.⁠ ⁠ Shooting in a volume is a different set of challenges for filmmakers and this group has a huge amount of knowledge to take from the course to put into practice on their first VP job⁠. ⁠ ⁠ 📸 of me possibly getting a little persistent about the importance of the 1st AC being on the recce and content review, by @felinsky⁠ ⁠ 📸 of me relaxing with a tea and chatting about the joys of working with Sir David Attenborough, by @carlostorrespictures⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Shout out to the students!
