Being around these leaders reminds me that we are part of making our world a better place. The way I have flourished in the presence of this community has been so beautiful to experience.

A group of leaders gathered from across the United States to have meaningful conversations and address troubling topics that are happening in our nation at the moment. The laughs, tears, silent, fun, and unspeakable moments were all part of the journey.

I am so proud of everyone who had the courage to bring themselves to this space and lead with curiosity. We were asking questions, listening and moving forward. This way of being can really get you far and allows room for one to understand the other in a deeper and more meaningful way. I am so grateful to be in spaces like this that pour into your cup and reminds you of who you are, and encourages growth for not only yourself, but humanity, and our world.

After this cohort retreat gathering, the URI North America Leadership Council met for a few days to plan out the following year for our organization. As Treasurer on the URI North America board, I am excited to see all that will come into fruition. Always so good to see the team, hear about all the great things we have going on and putting our brains together to plan for the betterment of our communities across the nation.

Beyond blessed to have encountered URI (United Religions Initiative) when I was younger, and am honored for this to have been part of my life for all these years and even now.

loved having a separate (very well soundproofed) chillout area! I get sensory overload, especially around large groups, so it was great to have a spot to sooth my nerves, and the space and sound curation was 👌☁️

Wow. Where do I begin? ❤️

The Interfaith Center at Miami University (@oxfordinterfaithcenter) hosted the (URI) United Religions Initiative (@uriglobal) "Courage and Curiosity" cohort this past weekend in Oxford, Ohio, funded by the Templeton Religion Trust (TRT).

Immediately following the gathering, we held our URI North America Leadership Council (@urinorthamerica) in Cincinnati.

The cohort brought together faith leaders from cooperation circles (CCs) across the country to discuss the most pressing issues of our time, building bridges across increasing divides and polarization. The URI global and regional staff (and partners) present thoughtfully and intentionally created space to respond to whatever appeared in the room. This was, indeed, courageous– meeting both the moment, and each of us, exactly where we are. (Compliments to Sarah Oliver, @sarah_cc_oliver here!)

The URI North America Leadership Council, guided by our remarkable Regional Coordinator (RC), Milia Islam-Majeed (@miliaislammajeed), began planning our Regional Gathering for 2027 (look for a CfP soon!). We made time to visit with local CCs to listen, learn and discern how we can support the incredible work they're doing locally. As the newly appointed LC chair, I hope this will be the first of many similar conversations, in continuity with the tireless and passionate leadership of our immediate-past chair, Felipe Zurita (@felipeverything).

What I want to express most, is that the leadership embodied throughout this gathering- from staff, trustees, LC members, and CC leaders, is a reminder that there is strength in softness, courage in collaboration, and progress only in humility.

Let us all meet this moment together in 2027.

On the #blog: One World, One Humanity — So Why Do We Live Such Different Lives? by Felipe Zurita

"This past weekend held within it what feels like the full spectrum of the human experience. We watched in awe as Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean on April 10th, completing NASA's Artemis II mission — a 685,000-mile, 10-day journey around the Moon and back, taking humans farther from Earth than anyone in history. It was a moment of shared, collective joy. And then, almost in the same breath, many of us found ourselves anxious and uncertain, watching the fragile peace talks between the United States and Iran, hoping the world would choose dialogue over conflict.

Joy and fear. Wonder and worry. All in the same weekend. All on the same planet."
