Oceanside's soul food staple is coming back.

Felix's BBQ With Soul called 3613 Ocean Ranch Blvd. home for nearly 17 years. When the lease ended, it closed on August 2. Now it's headed downtown to 223 N. Coast Highway, the old Petite Madeline and Kettle On Coast corner at Pier View Way.

Felix Berry opened the original in memory of his friend Ruth Davenport, who dreamed of running a bigger soul food restaurant. Their slogan still says it plainly: "Barbeque is what we do. Soul food is who we are."

Berry says they're currently open for takeout, dine in coming soon.

There aren't many places in Oceanside to get real soul food, so we're glad Felix's is coming home.
