FELL FROM GRACE, by Designer Grace Louie, revisits the codes of Victorian mourning dress in MOURNING SICKNESS, a graduate collection created at Queensland University of Technology. Drawing on the rigid rules of women’s funeral wear, mourning jewelry made from hair, and references to Victorian maternity dress, the project explores grief as both spectacle and social control, questioning whether these rituals were acts of oppression or devotion to performance itself.

The future of Australian fashion is here — and it has something to say.

The Hancock Prospecting Next Gen Group Show belonged to the emerging designers, new voices and fearless creative thinkers shaping what comes next.

From bold ideas to beautiful craftsmanship, this runway is one of the most important parts of Brisbane Fashion Festival: giving the next generation a platform, an audience and their moment under the lights.

Congratulations to every designer who stepped onto the runway. The future looks very good from Brisbane. ✨

💄 A thriving fashion industry doesn’t happen by accident 💃🏻 ft. Behind the scenes at Brisbane Fashion Festival 2026

It takes designers, photographers, models, stylists, hair artists, make up artists, student volunteers and so many more who are willing to back local talent and build opportunities.

Brisbane Fashion Festival is a reminder that our city is powered by people with ideas and ambition, with Central Ward home to more than 800 retail businesses and over 2,500 residents with Creative Arts qualifications — highlighting the depth of creative talent that is contributing to our city 🎨🖌️🩷

To every designer sketching their first collection, every retailer backing local labels, and every creative finding their voice: keep creating! ✨

I am so pleased to have your NEXT GEN show here at Brisbane City Hall tonight, supported by the @lordmayorscharitabletrust.

🖤✨👗💅
