POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What happens when a music video becomes a window into an artist’s mind?

I sat down with Ahmed Razeek, the director behind MOND’s “BZNS,” to talk about the ideas, choices, and chaos that shaped the video.

23 hours of shooting.
One opening shot.
Around 50 non-actors.
A rabid dog.
And a world built around conflict, brotherhood, love, and violence.

What interested me most was understanding how Ahmed turned all of those elements into one visual language — something stripped back, raw, and deeply connected to MOND’s psyche.

A conversation about directing, storytelling, and what happens when chaos is carefully choreographed.

8 years ago, I watched Emel Mathlouthi perform live.

Years later, I found myself behind the camera, filming and editing an interview with her.

There was something surreal about that full circle moment.

For this Artist Spotlight, I wanted the visuals to feel as honest and expressive as the conversation itself — an artist speaking about identity, authenticity, storytelling, and using art to give people a voice.

Emel’s music has always crossed boundaries, and her approach to art feels the same. She doesn’t seem interested in fitting neatly into one category — she takes every influence, every experience, and turns it into something that feels like her.

I’m very proud of this one.

I didn’t want to shoot this as a home tour.
I wanted to shoot the feeling the house gave me.

The curves, the colors, the textures, the objects, the light — everything felt like it was saying something about the person who created it.
Hasan Fikry describes his home as “a reflection, not a shelter.”
So I tried to make the film feel like a reflection of him.
A space designed by the person who lives inside it.

Shot & directed by me.

This is the beginning of a new series (which idk the name of it yet) — a little look into the shoots I do, the places they take me, and the people I get to meet along the way.

For the longest time, I wasn’t really sure who I was — Visionary, the artist, or Felo, the idea.

Eventually I realized I don’t have to choose. I’m both, and everything in between — including the contrasts, hence thefeloexperience was made.

Starting this series with a very special shoot with Emel Mathlouthi. PT1

Behind the scenes from our shoot with @inaraorg in Cairo, the largest NGO serving Palestinian refugees in Egypt.

We visited their three main centers—education center, psychosocial support center, and hospital, where @visionary_xx and I scrubbed in to watch Dr. Hazem Haddad perform a surgery on a 15 year old boy whose leg was amputated in 2024 after his home was bombed in Gaza.

A long overdue BTS for my first short-documentary feature on the incredible @gazasunbirds team in Cairo.

My story with the team began when I tutored @thisisaldali in English back in Amman in 2024, after he had left his family in Gaza to represent Palestine in competitions around the world. When I arrived I Cairo, he told me there was a team training here to compete in those same competitions, men like him who had lost their legs to Isr@eli bombardment. We met coach Hassan Harb on the outskirts of Cairo to follow the team on one of their practices, and learn each man’s story.

Proud of this team!

Inspired by the movie character Abbas El Gen from the film series Awlad Rizk, performed by Bassem Samra, who plays an antagonistic crime lord serving as a counter-force to the Rizk brothers. Abbas is primarily focused on retaining control, power, and dominance within the criminal underworld of Cairo. In his anti-capitalism agenda, Abbas holds an ideological socialist stance, and his methods and territory clash with the principles of regulated capitalism.

Starting with a sample from the movie introducing ‘Abbas El Gen’, the duo brothers Kamikazem and Gello deliver a nonchalant flow, not shying away from metaphors that sneakily attack the system in a confrontational social commentary. The single comes at the lead of their 4-track EP, El Ha2i2a Bayna.

The production features heavy 808 bass and deep, booming kick drums in a dark, hypnotic trap style with elements of Shaabi, perfectly complementing the street-political track and matching the confrontational lyrics that dissect the fragility of “principles” in the face of money.
Shot between the bustling streets of Cairo and the expansive deserts of Fayoum, the video, directed by Kamikazem himself, embraces a gritty aesthetic. It features overlooked corners of the city, such as junkyards, symbolizing survival in a corrupt capitalist society. The visuals, captured by Filo and meticulously edited by Khalid Khalifa, bring a cohesive work of art.

Navigating the brothers’ evolving ideas of survival and success through a fluid mix of experimental sounds, the EP is now available on all streaming platforms.
